Ohms is some good shit, yeah. After a few listens, Urantia, This Link is Dead, and Radiant City are probably my favorites. I was just recently talking about how much I loved the prominent synths on Saturday Night Wrist and how they mostly disappeared or were relegated to the background after that album. Lo and behold, Ohms has some tasty synths sprinkled throughout.
I don't wanna say Ohms is a more optimistic or vibrant album but I can't find words to describe it. It's a progressive album (for Deftones) and has a lot of life and color. Chino is also really direct in the songs, which caught me off guard at times. There's a clear focus and direction to this album that their recent output didn't have. It keeps my interest and engagement sustained.
Uh, this album is really good! Gave it two runs so far! Currently tackling the whole Deftones discography. Don't know why I never bothered checking them out. ATM I'm listening to White Pony! Sooo good ...
I didn't really know what to expect of this one, other than hoping it would be a bit more memorable than "Gore" was.. and I was pleasantly surprised! I feel like this one's gonna sit right next to "Saturday Night Wrist" and "Koi No Yokan", which are pretty much the only Deftones albums I have an easy time revisiting. Highlights for me are "Urantia" (god, I love the riffs on this), "Error", "Pompeji" into "This Link Is Dead" (nnngh) and "Radiant City". Big fan of the riffs on this record, as well as the occasional synths that're tastefully sprinkled throughout the tracks.

Lmfao. I cannot stand this brand of stoner/drug guy. Dudes do DMT once and think they've tapped into the spiritual veins of the universe. Much rather hang out with the dudes who just get ripped and play Rocket League.
Here we go again! New Deftones, "private music", available August 22. It was about time, almost 5 full years after "Ohms". First song out!
So much has dropped this past week for me that I couldn't spend much time taking in the new single, but it sounds up to par, I guess
Honestly, they hit the mark so well for me with Ohms that I feel it's going to be difficult to beat that one. Quite curious how the absence of Sergio will be felt, I think he took some responsibilities in their songwriting over the past few albums, and was bummed to see how it all ended. I like the new single, but it doesn't give me the wow factor yet. Will have to see in the context of the album.
I'm a fan and I've bought every album upon release since I became one, but I don't think I've gotten the "wow" factor with Deftones since maybe Koi No Yokan.
Not really feeling “my mind is a mountain” on first listen. It’s alright, though. Not bad. Just not grabbing me.
