I like the albums the College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, MBDTF, Yeezus, TLOP. I am inspired by the person who made the music on these albums. I don't think he's a bad person.
Sure, but my idea of "songwriting" is the lyrics/melodies over, let's say, in a hip-hop example, rhyme scheme. So, it can be how well you can incorporate the technical aspects in a song, but those factors for me are more important.
I've honestly started to care less about lyrics as long as they weren't completely nonsensical or cringey. It's not as important to me anymore
Same. As long as it can provoke an emotional reaction in some way, it does its job. And that can also come from the sound of the music too.
He's just another dime-a-dozen DJ that produces songs to be a hit. He made a song with Bastille that was very meh, but then they made a stripped version that basically removed all the Marshmellow parts of the song, and it was instantly better lol
I don’t really like going to concerts. I just don’t get the appeal. Why would I want to see them live, usually in a venue with bad sound surrounded by a bunch of drunk, loud idiots when I could be listening to the music on my stereo system in the comfort of my own home? I’m all for supporting artists as much as I can, and they usually means buying a ticket and merch. But from a pure enjoyment standard, concerts just don’t do it for me.
Someone doesn't know how to have fun... For real tho, it's just a completely different experience. There's a ton of factors at play that determine how much you can enjoy concerts. If a band can put a ton of effort into their live shows that enhance the listening experience, then hell yeah I wanna be there to experience that.
Hans Zimmer is an average film score composer with sparks of brilliance every once in a while. He's massively overrated and personally, I believe he's not that great at his craft. He fits well for certain tones and films but his approach to film score is an actual detriment to the standard for film composition since everyone tries to copy his overly repetitive style. Inception, Interstellar, TDK? Great works. But we don't need the same chugging strings motifs, the horn of doom, or the ratta-tat-tat electronic drum beats for action scenes in every film. Let the orchestra shine and let music help tell stories. There's so much more potential.
I just can't fathom listening to people scream and growl on an entire song, let alone an entire album/discography. Just sounds like complete buns :/
Music based around harsh vocals isn't often about melody, it's about the aggressiveness and grittiness of the music. That kind of music is an element of the human psyche that often goes untouched in other kinds of music. It's guttural, visceral, and feels very raw and organic compared to processed melodic vocals. And sometimes people just want to listen to something like that. You just feel that viscerally in your gut. I don't like most pop music. But I also don't sit around saying "I can't believe people listen to this!" Because I understand that some people don't relate or listen music the way I do. I have my opinions on modern music composition and songwriting, but at the end of the day if people enjoy music it's not my business to tell them they can't. ANYWHO...unpopular opinion. Coldplay isn't as monumental or as much of a holy grail as people make them out to be. Never have been. I enjoy Coldplay a lot but the way some people treat them as some sacred musical icon baffles me. They write very enjoyable music but their musical abilities and compositional skills aren't that much above average.
