I agree that it's more diverse theses days. Literally every genre is but while it's diverse we just aren't seeing the same quality and amount of quality of rap we saw in the early 00s in my opinion.

Good. Never be ashamed of the music you listen to. I think it's mainly Music snobs who feel that way against one liking TOP anyway. They are a great band and always will be to me :)

When talking about the modern rap scene:

    UK Rap > US Rap

Just check out the High Focus records roster. The label is packed with so much talent.

Now you know what being a Linkin Park fan feels like. :halfkappa:

For real though, as @Blake said, don't be ashamed of what you like. Heck, I like One More Light.

Set lists don't have to be constant high energy songs. While yes, a majority should be high energy to get the crowd going, its nice when a band/artist brings the pace down and let's their voice shine live.

I agree about every genre being more diverse but idk, maybe we aren't seeing as many classics these days like 2001, GRODT, etc. but I'd say even weaker artists lyrically have more talent than some of the weaker artists of the 2000s.

I'd take trap over the crunk or ringtone rap Era any day. Plus even the underground scene of the 2000s died because they never innovated. Most are still making the same generic boom bap they did in the 90s if they are still making music.

Really just depends where ya look. I like how underground artists are taking from mainstream to be more accessible and mainstream artists are taking more the underground to be more abrasive. Being an underground rapper in the 2010s means you're more likely to blow up than in the 90s or 2000s. Run The Jewels is a perfect example of that

Lmao I don't even want to remember crunk and ring tone rap. Almost as bad as the pop punk and nu metal era

I feel like Soulja Boy is good example of that

    Okay those are fighting words!!!!

Pop Punk is the second best genre of all time after Hard Rock.

Also Pop Punk wasn't an era. Unlike Nu-Metal, Pop Punk is very much alive and well today.

LOL I kinda fuck with Crank That at the time but every Soulja Boy clone trying to ride the coattails of that song was unbearable.

Fuck crunk tho for literally creating nu metal 2.0 with crunkcore.

Soulja Boy? lol Purity Ring covered one of his songs, it's fantastic.
And I thought the original was good too, but when I listened to it was pure garbage lmao.

Check out the artists on High Focus records + Rhyme Asylum, Task Force, Life Mc, Split Prophets, Foreign Beggars etc. ... Stormzy or Big Narstie are Grime wich is definitely an acquired taste :D I liked Big Narstie's verse, but I'm usually not huge on Grime
