Riffs: Guns 'N Roses - Paradise City Atreyu - Right Side of the Bed (chorus) AC/DC - Back in Black Trivium - A Gunshot To The Head of Trepidation Solos: Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love Trivium - A Gunshot To The Head of Trepidation Roadrunner United - In The Fire Trivium - Drowned and Torn Asunder BLS - Suicide Messiah
The most interesting solo I've heard recently is the solo for "I Don't Know" by Lostprophets This isn't really a riff but Teppei from Thrice does some pretty sweet lead licks on songs such as "Image of the Invisible", "Artist in the Ambulance", and "Stare at the Sun"
well the first riff i learnt was jesus of suburbia (i know, odd song to learn first), but i dont think its anywhere near any good really. i like the solo to the middle by jimmy eat world, but i think the opening to 'i bet you look good on the dancefloor' by arctic monkeys is very impresive. yeh, this is all newer stuff, guns and roses is good yeh, but i dont think it is over rated, and its just seems so fake, i dunno, only my opinion. also, i think the whole song of be yourself by audioslave rocks. yup, im done.
Solos: Blur - Magic America Pantera - The Art of Shredding Riffs: Rage Against The Machine - Bombtrack (I love all the guitar work on this track even if it isn't Tom Morello's technical best) Rage Against The Machine - Fistful of Steel (bridge - ".44 full of bullets...") Rage Against The Machine - Down Rodeo (verse) Led Zeppelin - Good Times Bad Times (2nd verse) Deftones - Digital Bath
Best solos= Suicide Messiah and Trashed, Lost and Strungout as Matt and Friskey said. Along with Cowboys From Hell by Pantera.
Am I allowed to mention the saxophone solo in "The Logical Song" by Supertramp? Or is this thread just for guitar solos/riffs?
