The idea is simple, create a band consisting of members you would love to see collaborate.

Note: The artists still have to be alive

    Mine:

    • Mikael Åkerfeldt: Vocals, Guitar (Opeth, Storm Corrosion)
    • Mike Portnoy: Drums (Ex-Dream Theater, Transatlantic, The Winery Dogs, Flying Colors)
    • Justin Chancellor: Bass (Tool)
    • Jari Mäenpää: Vocals, Lead Guitar (Wintersun, Ex-Ensiferum)

Given the background of these guys, the music they would be creating would probably be some sort of Prog-Rock/Prog-Metal/Death Metal hybrid. The outcome of their colloboration could lead to something very interesting I think.

For that late 70's rock, think Helter Skelter, Stone Cold Crazy
    • Paul McCartney - Vocals, Bass (The Beatles)
    • Ian Paice - Drums (Deep Purple)
    • Brian May - Vocals, Guitar (Queen)

Basically John Mayer Trio with the real Eric Clapton instead of John Mayer trying to be him and Paul replacing Pino because why not
    • Paul McCartney - Vocals, Bass
    • Steve Jordan - Drums (John Mayer Trio)
    • Eric Clapton - Vocals, Guitar (Cream, Derek & The Dominoes)

Not necessarily dream collabs, but ones that I find would have interesting results

Gorillaz x Run The Jewels x Liars
Lana Del Rey x Romy Madley Croft (The XX) x Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross
Thom Yorke x Sigur Rós x Jon Hopkins

    Nergal (vocals, guitar)
    Garm (vocals, keyboards)
    Sammy Duet (guitar)
    Alex Webster (Bass)
    Chris Adler (drums)

Fucking brutal. Sammy is there as the riff master. Garm is there to add atmosphere. Nergal is somewhere in between those 2. Then the rhythm section is just made up of the 2 most talented guys in Metal. I don't know what would come of this, but odds are it would be sick.

    Jimmy Page: Guitar (Led Zeppelin)
Jack White: Vocals, Guitar (The White Stripes)
    Bill Ward: Drums (Black Sabbath)
    Dusty Hill: Bass (ZZ Top)

That would make a badass Blues-Rock supergroup.

Matt Davies–Kreye (Funeral for a Friend) — vocals
Dan Marsala (Story of the Year) — vocals
Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) — lead guitar
Teppei Teranishi (Thrice) — guitar, keyboard, synthesizer
Jared Leto (Thirty Seconds to Mars) — guitar, keyboard, synthesizer, vocals
Marc McKnight (Atreyu) — bass, backing vocals
Luke Holland (The Word Alive) — drums

This band combines my two favorite genres of metal (metalcore and post-hardcore). I think it draws evenly from both genres and would be an awesome thing to see live. Adam D is the heavier, metalcore element, while Teppei is the more post-hardcore element (although he can drop into metalcore, too). I put Jared Leto in there because his vocals are incredible and he'd bring the more atmospheric element to the band which, combined with Teppei, would just sound amazing, I think. Combining Matt and Dan's vocals has been something I've always thought of and wanted to hear (because come on, how sick would it be to hear them sing each others songs?). Marc's not the greatest bassist, but he's extremely energetic and has a pretty decent range when performing backing vocals. And as far as I'm concerned, Luke Holland is the best drummer in the "scene" these days, and can play pretty much anything.

Holy shit that is an epic list! I especially love the Teppei inclusion, such an underrated guitarist.

I'll try a few different configurations

    -1- (southern metal/grunge-y)

Jerry Cantrell - Vocals/ Guitar (Alice In Chains)
Dave Turncrantz - Drums (Russian Circles)
Justin Chancellor - Bass (Tool, Peach)

-2- (in the vein of Conditions of My Parole crossed with A Thousand Suns)
Maynard James Keenan (in Puscifer mode, vocals/lyrics/creative director)
    Mike Shinoda - synth/programming/production

-the following are more for session/execution of ideas:
Chris Letchford - Guitar (Scale the Summit, solo)
Carina Round - backing vocals (Puscifer, solo)
Josh Freese - Drums (A Perfect Circle)
Brian Cook - Bass (Russian Circles)

    -3-
MJ Keenan - Vocals (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer)
    Eicca Toppinen - Cello (Apocalyptica)
    Paavo Lötjönen - Cello (Apocalyptica)
    Perttu Kivilaakso - Cello (Apocalyptica)
    Martin Axenrot - Drums (Opeth)

    -4- (Instrumental band)
    Rodrigo y Gabriela - Guitars
    Robert Trujillo - Bass (Metallica)
Danny Carey - Drums & all that other cool percussion/synth he does (Tool)

    -5- (more prog-metal/heavy metal)
    James Hetfield - Vocals/Guitar (Metallica)
    Mikael Akerfeldt - Vocals/Guitar (Opeth)
    Danny Carey - Drums/percussion/synth (Tool)
Mark Michell - Bass (Scale the Summit)

Realistic Group because they've all worked with each other in some configuration or format in the past:
    Dave Grohl - Drums/Guitar/Vocals
    Josh Homme - Guitar/Vocals
    Trent Reznor - Bass/Guitar/Keys/Vocals/Producer
John Paul Jones - Bass/Mandolin/whatever the fuck he wants to play
Lindsay Buckingham - Guitar/whatever he wants to play

    Unrealistic Super Producer-Group
    El-P
    Flying Lotus
    Danger Mouse
    Trent Reznor
    Madlib
    Prince Paul
    Dan the Automator
    ?uestlove
    DJ Shadow
    Aphex Twin
    Geoff Barrow (Portishead)

And then just get whoever the fuck wants to drop verses on this hottest of hot shit.

    Acoustic Heaven Group
Gabriela of Rodrigo y Gabriela (Rodrigo, technique-wise, is forgettable. Gabriela is the real star).
    Kaki King
    Sungha Jung
    Trace Bundy
    Jake Shimabukuro

I'll update with more random groups as time goes on.

    Matt Bellamy (Vocals, Piano)
    Claudio Sanchez (Lead Guitar, Vocals)
    Travis Stever (Rhythm Guitar)
    Jeph Howard (Bass)
    Dave Grohl (Drums)
    Trent Reznor (Electronics, Production)

I think this could result in some crazy songwriting. Long, epic songs with multiple movements mixed with a few hits here and there.
