U2 - "The Joshua Tree" Genre: Alternative Rock Sons of Apollo - "Psychotic Symphony" Genre: Progressive Metal / Hard Rock
Kamelot - Haven Genre: Symphonic Metal; Power Metal; Progressive Metal Liking this album apart from one of the collab songs, but still many songs to go. This will be a band to look into in the future.
Dream Theater - "Metropolis, Part 2: Scenes from a Memory" Genre: Progressive Metal Opeth - "Heritage" Genre: Progressive Rock / Folk
Tonight Alive - The Other Side Genre: Pop Punk; Emo Tonight Alive - What Are You So Scared Of Genre: Pop Punk; Emo Tonight Alive - Limitless Genre: Pop Punk; Emo The Other Side and What Are You So Scared Of sound very similar, but The Other Side is a bit better vocally, lyrically and sonically, I deem Limitless as the best of the three since there is more vocal and sonic variety, while maintaining the some of their core sound. This band is very Paramore-ish and her voice sounds a lot like Hayley's. Purity Ring - Shrines Genres: Eletropop; Synthpop; Dream Pop Purity Ring - Another Eternity Out of these two, Another Eternity is the best by far, with the second half of Shrines being much better than the first with the exception of the songs Fineshrine, Amenamy and Ungirthed (this one mostly from the halfway point until the end). I feel like in Shrines they overdid the chipmunk sounds, which appear very lightly and well placed on Another Eternity. The vocals are much more natural in the sophomore album or at least less dstant. Another downside to the first effort is the use of rap on the song Grandloves ft Young Magic. There's a good balance between the vocals and the electronic sounds on both abums, but still better on the second one. As to the lyrics of all these albums, I still have to look into them. The replay value is much higher on another eternity than on Shrines.
Converge - The Dusk In Us (Hardcore/Experimental) This is one of my favourite releases this year so far! Well worth the wait. It hits you like a train, cause it's so damn heavy! The drumming is simply insane. I also love the melancholic title track and the atmospheric bits dispersed throughout the album.
Braids - Deep in the Iris Genre: Art pop Bring Me the Horizon - That's the Spirit Genre: Alternative Rock / Electronic Rock Purity Ring - Shrines Genre: Electropop / Glitch pop
Joji - In Tongues Genre: Alternative Hip-Hop Literally stayed up until it got released last night, and I've been pretty much repeating it non-stop when I woke up. Great EP, and I cannot wait for more to get released by this fantastic indie artist.
Thom Yorke - The Eraser Genre: Electronica/Alternative Rock Thom Yorke - Tomorrow's Modern Boxes Genre: Electronic
Tegan and Sara - So Jealous Genre: Indie Pop; Indie Rock Really liked this album. The vocal interplay on it is amazing, even though their song I like the most from those I've heard is Back In Your Head, which is a bit different instrumentally than anything on this album, which is more focused on the acoustic guitar. I feel like they complement each other quite well vocally and will definitely listen to more albums by them. Some more energy is lacking in some songs, though. It could have had some more insrumental variety for it not to sound almost all the same, but still sounds good. Maybe collabs could also work. The highlights on this one are You Wouldn't Like Me, Take Me Anywhere, Walking With A Ghost, So Jealous and Speak Slow, even though the replay value could have been much higher.
Keeno - All The Shimmering Things (Liquid Drum & Bass) Anti-Flag - American Fall (Punk Rock) Cannibal Corpse - Red Before Black (Death Metal)

It's unclear now what we intend We're alone in our own world You don't wanna be my boyfriend And I don't wanna be your girl And that, that's a relief We'll drink up our grief And pine for summer And we'll buy beer to shotgun And we'll lay on the lawn And we'll be good Now I'm laughing at my boredom At my string of failed attempts Because you think that it's important And I welcome the sentiment And we'll talk on the phone at night Until it's daylight And I feel clever And I hear the slow in your speech Yeah, you're half asleep Say "Goodnight". Now I've got friendships to mend I'm selfishly dispossessed You don't wanna be my boyfriend And that's probably for the best Because that, that gets messy And you will hurt me Or I'll disappear So we will drink beer all day And our guards will give way And we'll be good
