Jep! True. I really doubt it's got anything to do with She Couldn't or something else. I imagine it different...

Well, I think it'll build on new divide's sound. Maybe a bit more NIN or MUSE-ish.

But really, I hope they do something like Pink Floyd. I think it's a great coincidence that mike posted about Sapparo and Dark Side of the Moon, on his twitter also. Anyway, we'll just have to wait.

You must not be a big fan of Floyd then, otherwise, I'm sure you wouldn't have said that.

I'll be disappointed if it sounds anything like She Couldn't/New Divide.

Or maybe I've listened to too much Pink Floyd?

I'm not really too sure what your point is anymore, and how that post relates to anything... But yeah, Dark Side is one of my favourite albums, and I have quite a loving relationship with Piper at the Gates of Dawn :p. And I say, that there are too many things that "sound like" Pink Floyd by now.

I doubt very much that it was an actual Police Officer. A hired security guard is what he most likely was.

I don't think you have to worry about 10 minute guitar solos. Even though Mike said at the end of last year that the songs they were writing were longer than usual, they were still just around 5 mins.

And Floyd aren't the only Prog around (as I'm sure you know), just the only band Mike mentioned. There's a big difference between being "inspired by" and "sounding like".
LP opened for Tool last summer. If they took some inspiration from them, particularly Rob, that would be something.

First off, the guy said only "parts of it may even sound proggy", not the whole song. so it's not going to be mellow the whole way through, I just can't see them making an album full of mellow songs (no MTM was still a bit beat driven than just mellow). Another thing is that LP has their own individual sound always and they're not the type to copy sounds. Just think of an inspired Pink Floyd, along with all past LP albums, their uniqueness that they've always had, mikes raps this time, beat driven (not mellow), and some bits of proggy and electronic synthesizers.

Was that^^ aimed at me? I know you quoted me, but it doesn't really read like a reply to anything I said.... ?

It's not going to sounds like She Couldn't. Let's be honest guys, that song was made over ten years ago...What are the chances they're going to revisit that type of sound?

I'm excited that alot of the signs are pointing towards a more electronic feel. If New Divide were to have any comparison with the new songs, I'm hoping it's the use of experimental synth sounds - Something that was lacking from MTM. I'm also glad to hear there's going to be rapping, that was also lacking from MTM.

Point is, many bands have tried to do what Floyd did over the years, but none of them could ever get even close to the heights Pink Floyd reached with their music (apart from a very few perhaps), so if Linkin Park have actually managed to get near the quality of Pink Floyd's music with this new record, I'll be super happy.

Yeah, I'm expecting to hear some mad lo-fi electronics and some rapping - other than that, I have no idea. But I expect to be surprised, haha.

    Eh...not a fan of a mellow-Pink Floydish LP. I'll pass.

Jacon Undead is right, it would be good to actually hear some of Phoenix's playing this time around lol
Also I'm pretty sure that Linkin Park will be going alot more electronic, melodic and mainstream (in a good way) than before, who remembers when Mike posted something about making more "fast-food" type music? Meaning that LP should produce more chart topping tracks which could get popular but get thrown away, instead of simpler songs which lasted in the long term.

I don't think their goal is to create 'chart-topping' tracks anyway, though. I think Linkin Park tend to look beyond that stuff. :3

Someone a few pages back asked me if I feel LP is going to be a modern day genesis, and they actually have a good point. I strongly believe that is the type of sound we're going to be getting. You see, a lot of uninformed people believe Genesis was extremely mellow because it had Phil Collins in it, but in reality its the complete opposite. Genesis were one of the most (if not the most) influential progressive rock bands of all time. Not only did they have both Peter Gabriel (who mike said a song sounded like) and Phil Collins in the same lineup, but they're also an amazing band. Seeing what Mike has stated before, I'd say Genesis with some Fort Minor quality hiphop. The whole pink floyd thing mightve been just for atmosphere/to get down a certain guitar effect.
