Just to clarify, just because it all sounds the same doesn't mean it's not good. And just because I got sick of it doesn't mean that it's not good. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I'm not trying to say you all listen to bad music.

I listen to both good and bad music. The same reason why I like watching thought provoking/intelligent films, but at the same time I love the no brainer comedy/action blow'em up films.
They both have their own purpose. If I went to a club, I wouldn't want to hear LP, I would prefer music with more beats and heavy bass. As for my 'ME' time, LP, NIN, Deftones all the way. :headbang:

To start, here's the artists in my library:

AC/DC, Aerosmith, Alien Ant Farm, The All-American Rejects, All That Remains, Apocalyptica, Avenged Sevenfold, Bang Camaro, Beastie Boys, The Beatles, Between the Buried and Me, The Black Eyed Peas, Blink-182, Bo Burnham, Breaking Benjamin, Bullet for My Valentine, Children Of Bodom, Coheed and Cambria, The Decemberists, Dethklok, Disturbed, DragonForce, Dream Theater, Elvis Presley, Eminem, The Fall of Troy, Fall Out Boy, Family Force 5, Flobots, Foo Fighters, Fort Minor, Freezepop, Green Day, Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Julien-K, Kayne West, Killswitch Engage, K'NAAN, Megadeth, Metallica, Michael Angelo Batio, Michael Jackson, Mötley Crüe, My Chemical Romance, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, The Offspring, Pantera, Paramore, The Police, The Prize Fighter Inferno, Rage Against the Machine, Raintime, Razor Red Noise, Red Hot Chill Peppers, Remedy Drive, Rise Against, Rush, Soundgarden, Still Remains, System of A Down, Them Crooked Vultures, Trivium, Velvet Revolver, Whitechapel, White Rabbits

Next, I don't think all of Linkin Park's old songs sound the same. They are all distinguishable from each other, regardless of the similar song structure between each. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using a typical song structure, it's just the way some people write.

    ^ Yes, this.

But most of us, I'm sure, are glad the band didn't purely stick to just that for the last album. :)

In terms of variety, Reanimation is LP's best album I guess.

    This.

I much prefer New Divide. I actually think it's better than the majority of stuff off of MTM. The more I listen to MTM, the weaker it sounds. A fantastic album, but songs like In Between, In Pieces, Given Up and What I've done aren't really the kind of potential LP could have reached. Good songs nonetheless but lacking a spark in my opinion. New Divide brought a different formula, the use of more synth modulation and an electronic breakdown we havn't heard in an LP song before and also included some of the best vocal harmonies the band have produced.

That's the first time I've ever heard someone speak poorly of In Pieces. In Pieces is one of the more artistic pieces on that record. I love it.

I think In Between is one of their best songs out of any album...

In Between and In Pieces stand nowhere near New Divide imo.

I think In Between and In Pieces holds up on their own. With In Pieces, they have a very unique guitar solo that never fails to impress me, and In Between, though very basic, is probably one of my favorites on the record, since it shows how well mike can actually sing instead of rap

New Divide probably trumps most of MTM purely cos of that breakdown. I've never heard anything like it, except maybe from NIN

The breakdown was epic yes, but the song as a whole annoys me. To me, and I have heard this from many other people, it sounds like What Ive Done V2. Also I cant seem to listen to the radio without even hearing this song 5 to 7 times an hour. Its rather irritating, since when i listen to radio, i wanna hear a variety of songs.

Mike's singing abilities are much better proven on No Roads Left though which funnily enough is another song I find to be better than most of anything off MTM. In Pieces is probably the weakest song on the album for me. The lyrics are pretty terrible and, while the solo is good, it's not enough to give the song any special kick. And as far as solos go, it's fairly basic for a then 29-year old guitar player. That said, LP have yet to create a song I don't like.

ah yes, No Roads Left. The only real problem i have with that song is the repetitive riff through out the song. other than that i love it and i wish it made the cut

There's a difference between using straightforward structures often and having a lot of songs that are samey, though. That's what Meteora is like to some people.

I think it's the guitar solo that doesn't sit right with me... personally it just sounds off that you have a really solemn serious rock song, and out of nowhere there's a solo that sounds like Queen or something.
