If he likes something better than another thing, then let him. Dont shoot him down for having an opinion

Yep, apparently I'm not amusing to others :(

I merely asked why he thinks its better musically because I've heard that argument a lot without an explanation to back it up.

I didn't know people needed an explanation for their opinions...

Well be that as it may, it's something that he likes more. I dont think music has to have any explanation as to why it sounds better. There are quite a bit of people who listen to stuff like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, or any other pop star of that nature, that i just think, why the hell would they like this garbage? But in all reality, that IS what they like, and there isnt anything we can change about it

I don't think there is anything wrong with wondering why someone thinks one CD is musically better than another. I know we shouldn't attack others musical tastes, but it isn't like he said "FUCK YOU, METEORA IS BETTER!" he just asked why they prefered M2M.

Discussing Linkin Park's music and why we like it seems like the kind of conversation one would expect on a Linkin Park forum...certainly more than one about stretch marks and dick jokes

My comment to spraypaint was a little sarcastic. Apparently it didn't get taken as such lol.

Minutes to Midnight as an album is better musically because it proves that Linkin Park can actually write more than one type of song.

It has different song structures than Intro -> Verse 1 -> Chorus -> Verse 2 -> Chorus -> Bridge -> Chorus -> Outro (sometimes)

It used various instruments, guitar tones, and vocals than just the average distorted guitar, then Mike rapping over it, then Chester screaming and singing.

It's much harder to write melodic, moody pieces like The Little Things Give You Away and Wake than it is to write Papercut over and over again with different lyrics (All of which have the word "Lie" in them).

    There's your explanation.

PS: In case you haven't noticed, I've ditched the old school Linkin Park sound. I can only listen to 24 songs that sound exactly the same a certain amount of times before I never want to hear them again. Minutes to Midnight, on the other hand, is MUCH more varied than their first 2 albums, and thus will probably stay in my iTunes for a much longer amount of time.

I agree, and whats nice about this is that i think LP realizes this also. I dont think that LP will get as proggy as say pink floyd but i think they themselves have realized that they are better than the music theyve released. I think the altering of their music live, plus throwing in new solos and segues show this..

But I didn't ever deny the talent of any of the players... and picks are lame anyway tbh. In fact you've kind of proved the point I had, Rush don't actually write great progressive music, they're just good players. It's sport, not music.
