Something needs to happen in the US wrestling scene to get me back into the swing of things. Right now, WWE is just... "there". Something exciting needs to happen, like Cena turning heel, or someone out of the blue stepping up and making a splash in WWE that isn't expected (Matt Hardy?). TNA needs a primetime television deal. They have all the features of a wrestling promotion that I like, and some of my favorite wrestlers, but I just have no motivation to watch them at all. It's too bad that WWE has Lesnar under a no-compete clause right now, because a Lesnar/Angle feud for the "IWGP Championship" would be fantastic right about now, if you know the circumstances surrounding that title belt.
TNA does have a huge roster and they have a couple of features that I like as well. But when you're on TV for just an hour a week, let alone, run by Vince Russo, the king of "Crash TV", it's all going to go to hell, simple as that. Maybe they need another hour on TV, maybe they need to go to another network like FOX (thats a rumor), maybe they need to just send Russo down to the 7th depth of hell, who knows? Just wish they do something quick though. So if you excuse me, i'm going to watch Ring of Honor. Least they just got a PPV deal.
Is it me or does wrestling just really suck now. I mean the only hope is the indies. WWE really has just gone downhill more and more since about three years ago. Even bringing back DX and the almighty Jeff Hardy, it's still lame. Alot of the wrestling just seems to fill in conclusions rather than wrestling itself and ECW is really a joke. TNA has all the things to make it good, but they just can't pull them together. Some really lame gimmicks, only an hour a week making really short matches and promos and some dreadful storylines are really holding it back. *sigh* looks like we'll have to stick to poor quality picture and sound from the indies just to watch good wrestling.
I completely agree with you, the WWE have completely gone down hill and It's starting to get really boring. They really need to come up with something new, but then again... The WWE is fake... So I can't really say much...
Have you ever given mixed martial-arts a try? For the uninitiated, I mean the Ultimate Fighting Championship and organizations like that. I was a huge wrestling fan for a long time, but I stopped watching it for the very reasons you listed about 5 years ago. MMA is 100% real and is really starting to catch on here in the U.S. a lot more.
MISTEEEERRRR! KENNEDYYYY!!! *dramatic pause* McMahon?! I think it'd be cool. Although I would still find it hilarious if it was Triple H.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2998062 11 WWE talents (10 wrestlers) have been suspended for "Wellness policy" allegations and such. Newsday leaked the names out of the people. Expect major changes. Randy Orton Charlie Haas Edge King Booker Gregory Helms Mike Bucci (Nova; The only non-wrestler on the list) Santino Marella Johnny Nitro William Regal Mr. Kennedy Chavo Guerrero
damn, Mr. Kennedy and Randy Orton seemed to be picking up steam here and heading to the big-big times. I like Regal as GM; but I'm so glad that Booker won't be on TV for a while, can't stand his stupid gimmick or the chick with him.
I was really into Pride FC at the time before it got bought out. And it was more badass than UFC. GOMI TAKANORI! CROCOP!
Wow. I seriously dunno what to say. Orton? I was getting so excited he would take the belt from Cena for once. Booker? I was happy to watch him on Raw since I always miss Smackdown. Edge? I was hoping for a soon enough comeback. Kennedy? WTF! That's so not cool. And Nitro/Morrison? *shakes head* I can't believe he's gone. The Punk/Morrison feud is amazing.
Yeah Pride was pretty bad-ass in its heyday. Now with Cro-Cop and Shogun (not to mention Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva) all going to the UFC, its looking like many of my dream matches will come true. I thought about starting an MMA thread, but I don't think there are enough fans on the LPA to make it worthwhile. Anyway, i guess I'll stop hijacking the wrestling thread now.
As reported earlier, WWE has released Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard and JTG). It doesn't appear as if they were released due to anything relating to the WWE Wellness Policy. The team was involved in an incident at the RAW house show in Terra Haute, Indiana. During their match with Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, the finish saw a strange countout even though JTG was back in the ring. After the match, Cryme Tyme attacked the ref and removed his belt, then pretending to auction it off to the audience. Something relating to this finish did not sit well with WWE management and the team had a lot of heat on them today at the RAW taping prior to being released. Credit: PWInsider.com
