I remember Punk's tweet that night... Something along the lines of having CM Punk and Steve Austin under the same roof and wondering if the WWE will manage to still fuck things up.
Here is a really nice summation of the entire angle so far. It's less about Punk in the grand scheme, but he plays a big role, just like Triple H, John Cena and (eventually) The Rock do. Apparently the shake up in the writing team(s) on both shows are producing some worthwhile results, since this all occurred right around the same time Brian Gerwitz was removed from his head writer position on RAW.
That's a really nice summary, Casey. I still cannot wait for next Monday night. By the way, I just watched the Money in the Bank intro and it is awesome how when Punk came out, he embraced the crowd as a face and when Cena came out, he did no salute to the crowd, like he normally does. When he raised the championship in the middle of the ring, he did so with his head down... Very heel-like. But god, did I get goosebumps with Punk's intro...
Punk crashed WWE's ComicCon panel, interrupting Triple H. http://tv.ign.com/ar...p1.html#IGNSDCC
Just watched the segment via Joey Styles' tweet. It was awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NAvDqglbAE
This angle is immense. If I had any doubts that they were dropping this, or if anyone did, surely this negates all of it.
I just watched this on facebook! The video is 12 ways of bad ass! It's amazing how quickly he is becoming a fan favorite!
I can't remember the last time I was this excited about wrestling. What's even better is that it doesn't even look like this angle has begun yet. Doing works like this Comic-Con spot is taking things to a whole new level. It's giving the fans realism and something a step above this PG era they have been known for. It's a whole new way of gaining attention and publicity for the product too, videos like the one there will go viral and be passed around, again adding to the "authenticity" of it. It will be on media sites before you know it creating a buzz, which it really deserves to.
Just saw the video, CM Punk 5 WWE 0 Also Zack Ryder's authentic t-shirt goes on sell this Monday, surely he will get some sort of spot on RAW.
They are working this beautifully. I never would have thought they would go this direction after the years of the same repetitive shit. CM Punk is a great wrestler but never in a million years would I have thought he would become maybe one of the most important wrestlers of this generation. I love it. Being from Chicago I love it. Money in the Bank was the first time I've watched a WWE PPV in years. Had me out of my seat. I really had that big fight atmosphere that the WWE has been lacking. They are doing great things now and I'm excited to see what becomes of this. Taking it to the next level by taking the story off the show and out in public as well. It's awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing what this becomes.
This. All of this. Another sidenote, I'm hoping the WWE resigns Colt Cabana as Colt Cabana and not that terrible Scotty Goldman character they created for him.
I'm absolutely loving this angle! Finally WWE is providing something actually worthwhile watching. I'm wondering if Dwayne will be a part of this storyline anytime soon...
I doubt it, after SummerSlam, the build to Rock/Cena will be turned up a notch, and Rock will be at Survivor Series at MSG too.
I could see this playing out with Triple H becoming the big heel boss for the next few months leading up to CM Punk's return starting a sort of rebellion within the WWE. In Smackdown news, I hope WWE doesn't screw up Daniel Bryan wanting to cash in at Wrestlemania 28. We all know what happened to Mr. Kennedy with his briefcase.
Vince loves to work the internet, so I wouldn't be too shocked if Bryan was the first to unsuccessfully cash in the briefcase. But, then again, the entire product is moving towards something I can really get behind. It's too bad Kharma got pregnant, her storyline would be in full effect right now if she wasn't. Add on top of that CM Punk being the focal point of a huge storyline, Daniel Bryan being pushed, Christian as World Champion, Psycho Orton, Sheamus winning the fans over by just being a badass motherfucker.... maybe Bryan will be the World Heavyweight Champion. That's something I never thought I'd see. Steve Austin thinks WWE should hire Samoa Joe, too bad he just signed a contract extension in December with TNA.
I wonder if Punk is going to crash the championship party tonight... I wonder if he doesnt if the "dead" Nexus will.
Even though it took awhile, Jericho is your case-in-point here. By the way, I finally got a reaction out of Shane "The Hurricane" Helms. http://www.facebook.com/#!/shanehelmscom/posts/10150251539398195 And yes, my name is Joe.
The arrival of The Kings of Wrestling is imminent. They'll bypass Florida Championship Wrestling and go straight to the main roster. Colt Cabana has also stopped accepting indy bookings past August, presumably because he'll be with WWE by then. What the FUCK is going on in WWE? Now they just need to sign Samoa Joe, AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels and the IWC favorites will all be employed by WWE (except Davey Richards, fuck him).
Haha! I think the WWE is clever with what they are doing now with being all secretive. This kind of reminds me of the ECW invasion...
