Wasn't that kick a thing of beauty? Ralph Macchio style. As for the light heavyweight title picture, I assume the winner of Rashad-Davis gets the next title shot. Machida and Rampage both need to rack up a few more wins.
Yeah, Rampage needs to go through Matt Hamill at UFC 130 and I imagine Rashad / Davis winner will get the shot at Jones. Not sure where Rampage will go if he wins, but I imagine another fight after Hamill for a title shot. As for GSP, Dana White as even hinted at a possible Nick Diaz match-up, but there's obstacles in the way of making that happen. I have to admit though that does sound like a good fight.
That would be an exciting fight. Honestly, GSP disappointed me last night. He got way too tentative and predictable after Jake hit him. Sure, GSP was busted up a little bit, but Jake had nothing for him in the striking department.
Yeah, it was probably the weakest match on the card, but overall it was a good night. Even the prelims were great last night. Looking forward to UFC130. Quite intrigued to see Mir v Nelson. Not a great fan of Nelson or Mir, but I'm probably pulling for Mir on this one. Rampage v Hamill will hopefully be a decent fight and Maynard v Edgar... I just want to see a fucking deciding win to be honest, haha.
After months of saying if GSP gets through Shields, we might see the superfight... we get rumors of fucking NICK DIAZ versus GSP? Goddamn, color me disappointed. Nelson will smother Mir to death with his stomach.
Wow, WWE really screwed over Christian last night. The guy was at the pinnacle of his career for a whole two days.
surely no one expected them to actually run with Christian as the World Champion? I know he's a favorite, but damn. You got Orton and Sheamus right there.
GSP vs. Diaz is now official. Personally, I like this fight. Sure, it has "GSP decision" written all over it, but if nothing else Nick won't be intimidated by GSP and will come to fight. Pretty much the only interesting match left for GSP at 170, frankly.
I agree, I'm excited for it. Personally, I've seen people like "we don't want this Dana, we want GSP v Silva", but I'm just as excited for this fight to be honest. It was the only logical fight for GSP at 170 like you say and I'm glad it's happening. Good move by the UFC in my opinion.
Probably going to be a GSP decision, I really hope there's a stoppage but I doubt it. I still don't know why people want to see GSP vs Silva, Silva would fucking destroy him. A more interesting and even match up IMO is Jones vs Silva.
Anyone looking forward to UFC 131 this weekend? There's so much MMA in the next month, I don't think there's one weekend without a UFC / Strikeforce event alone in the coming weeks, so that's cool. As for 131 it's hard to say who's going to take the Carwin / Dos Santos fight. I want to say Santos maybe? ...but then I look at how good Carwin is looking these days, and the changes he's made since Lesnar could easily make him the winner. I think it will be a good headliner.
I think the smart money's on Dos Santos. He has better cardio and more dynamic, diverse striking. As long as he keeps his head moving and avoids those railroad ties on the ends of Carwin's arms, he should be fine. Can't wait. Two certified legends going head to head. I hope Hendo pulls off the upset and shows everyone why he deserves just as much acclaim as Randy Couture.
Battle of the washed up legends, go Strikeforce!!!! Oh, and Nate failed because of crack in his system.
