Will you be able to listen to LP the same way? The lyrics are haunting now.

I'm now reminded of all those nu-metals diehards who begged for "Meteora but darker"...

There's your dark fucking album right there.

Suicide can be planned ahead for quite some time. It just depends on the person and what they're going through. And sometimes, people seem at peace having planned it, which is why sometimes people believe they seemed fine beforehand. It does happen that way, sadly. Can't say for sure if that was the case with Chester, but it can happen.

I'd like to add Figure.09 to the list of the songs that have a new weight.

    "(And now)
(You've become a part of me)
    (You'll always be right here)
(You've become a part of me)
    (You'll always be my fear)
    (I can't separate)
    (Myself from what I've done)
(Giving up a part of me)
    (I've let myself become you)

    I've let myself become you
I've let myself become lost inside these thoughts of you
Giving up a part of me, I've let myself become you"

It's like Chester literally became Chris Cornell and couldn't escape

And HOLY CRAP- BLEED IT OUT

    "Filthy mouth, no excuse
Find a new place to hang this noose

String me up from atop these roofs
Knot it tight so I won't get loose"

Even though it's Mike rapping those lines it's really hard to get through.

Man, I never took that lyric that way but that's so sad to think about it that way. But I usually forgot about those lyrics, Hit the Floor is easily my least favorite old school LP song.

    Sorry for the double post:

Add these songs to the list:
    • Across the Line
    • Blackbirds
    • Chance of Rain
    • A Light That Never Comes
    • She Couldn't

I have to say that Chester suicide absolutely took away most of the supposed "cheesiness" of LP lyrics.

Calling those "cheesy and whiney", as it has so often been the case, is actually refusing to take seriously people who might genuinely suffer from such mindset described in songs like "Somewhere I belong" , in a way that goes way beyond teenage-angst.

And that whole teenage angst never made much sense to begin with. It's not like Chester was 18 when HT got released. The guy litteraly was in his mid-twenties already.

Sorry man but you're a little bit rude. I'm shocked and heartbroken like every Linkin Park fan and I just can't think about anything else than Chester's death so there are a lot of things going around in my head about him, about the last shows and last days of his life. I know maybe that some of them are a little bit unrealistic but talking about helps me to be a little bit more calm.

I was belting the lyrics to the entire album of One More Light earlier and it really has changed how I perceive that album as a whole. Right now it's only my 6th favorite Linkin Park album but I think it's a great album. I've noticed since his passing that I enjoy songs like Talking To Myself, Battle Symphony, and Heavy more than I used to. I think this album could end up passing ATS and becoming my #5 album from the band.

Same here. I've been listening to Nobody can save me a lot these two days. It describes perfectly how I feel about the situation. It's a mix between sadness and gratitute. LP has been part of my life, with my family and friends. I liked OML, but it wasn't I expected it. But now, now it simply so meaningful for me. With Chester has gone the BSO of my childhood, my adolescence , and part of my 20's. So difficult to process and understand. But somehow, even when the lyrics are depressing, nobody can save me summarizes all my sentiments, something so beautiful that little things did it in my life.

This so fucking much. It always pissed me off when people, including some on this forum, dismissed Linkin Park's lyrics as teen angst or whining about no one understanding them when it was blatantly obvious that they were Chester's desperate cries for help and his struggles with depression, childhood trauma, and substance abuse. Those assholes are the reason why so many people struggling with depression or going through abuse are silent, because no one will listen to them, and Chester's case is exactly that. He poured his heart out in every line he wrote, and instead of paying attention and trying to help him, people just laughed at him and made memes out of his songwriting. Now he's dead and these people are just now taking his lyrics seriously. The ignorance and hypocrisy is fucking disgusting.

That's a bit of a reach. The entire song is about being remorseful about turning into someone else.

LP has a lot of cringe lyrics. Sure, Chester's death (wtf man) makes them more meaningful but their lyrics outside of ATS didn't blow anyone away. They were simple yet effective. They're just under the microscope more now that Chester is dead (goddamnit wtf did I just say).

Tell them I couldn't help myself
and tell them I was alone
Oh tell them I was the only one
There nothing that can stop me from going home

We never thought lyrics from Chester's perpective
I always thought that chester has left all his demons behind way back earlier
But I was wrong. He was dying from inside every single day.

My daughter hasn't been able to bring herself to listen or watch anything L.P. since the news broke here in UK..
Where as I've listened to One more light completely at least 4 times just today... and linkin park radio on Spotify... loads of YouTube vids and interviews...
I hope she does find her way back to the music as it's the first common interest we shared... my own personal regret is I was never able financially to take her to see them live in the 10 yrs we've been listening and enjoying their music

The most haunting song for me at the moment is Bleed it Out, that was the last song he sung and the name itself Bleed It Out is haunting me.

It makes the lyrics even more real for me now. I always wondered what songs meant the most to the band lyrically.
