If it's a heavier album, maybe it'd be nice to have Shinoda not rapping, but having Chester completely refrain from screaming would be going too far, in my opinion.
It would be awesome to get another song like Blackout where Chester raps and Mike sings, but more focused specifically on switching their roles so Chester would rap during the verses and bridge while Mike sings the Chorus (And no, he will not fucking scream, geez people). Black out + No Roads Left = ^ dat
I dunno. On M2M Mike only rapped on BIO and HHH. I think it's fair to keep Chester's screaming down to a minimum. I'm not one to believe that you have to scream to be agresssive. BTW, I love his screaming but it'd be different and that's what I really want, surprises.
More back-and-forth singing with chester would be great. I always think its more intresting when the band does this rather than have chester hog all the vocals. Then again, I did love how they approached it on some of the songs on MTM. With chester singing the main parts on No More Sorrow while mike does pretty much all the harmonies. If Mike CAN confidently pull it off, then yes, More songs like No Roads left, otherwise keep it the way it is. It would be super awesome if we had a song where all the singers have a part to play. e.g. a song with gang vocals that include Rob, Phonex and joe, and with 3 parts for Chester, Mike and even Brad. Kinda like "Untill it breaks" but with all singing. That'll be sweet. Intresting point. If you go back, MTM only had 2 songs with rapping like you said and only 3 songs with screaming. When you compare that to ATS things are even more sparse with 3 songs with rapping (if you count W4TE that is) and 1 song with screaming. While LT is more akin to their older work: 5 songs with rapping and 4 songs with screaming. Yes Skin to bone has screaming in it. Listen to the Accapella if you don't belive me! It's there in the 2nd verse
what about Mike doing the screaming, and Chester doing the rapping? Toss in a lil Phoenix rapping aswell, we all know he can do it! Seriously tho. I would love hearing some aggressive singing from Mike's part. That is something we have never heard before, and I don't think it's actually impossible for him. I would love some solo tracks with singing like ''No roads'' and ''In between''. Hope he experiments alot with different styles, like the rapping in one of the ''Until it brakes'' demos. I would not actually mind the album to have more guest rappers, to a certain point ofc. Like, I would love Ryu or Apathy to spit some verses. But nothing more then that. But it seemed like Mike said that he would mainly do guitars on the new record. But i like suprises. *Edit* Mike DID post a pic on instagram with the band doing gangvocals.!
I hope he has a larger singing role. Living Things surprised me in that regard, Mike sang on 5 out of the 11 songs(not counting Tinfoil because it doesn't have vocals). I love Mike's singing(a reason for that is he's easy to sing along to ''
The call-and-response type of vocals have always been my favorite. Just any mix between Mike and Chester would be awesome. Lying From You and the end of Burn It Down being good examples of that. Even better would be if they traded off singing vocals though. They came pretty close to doing that with In My Remains, with mike doing the bridge. But, mixing it up even more would be badass.
This thread is about Mike's vocal role on the next album, but I would love some Chester vocals ala Blackout (verses).. Yummm that would be awesome.
As others have stated above, I would like to see Mike sing on more energetic tracks, plus shared vocal duties with Chester, such as in Castle of Glass, Roads Untraveled, and Burning in the Skies. On another note, I want some rapping from Chester on this album. Y'all know that Sabotage cover was great!
I'd be so happy if we get at least 1 song where Mike totally goes bonkers and brings that blisteringly fast rapping style (like Reading My Eyes). We haven't really had something on that level on a studio release ever.
