Agreed with pretty much everything. I said as much in my blog review, except the bit about the sequels. I didn't even think of that.

OK LPAers, I have a mission for you. I am obsessed with Chinese period pieces, like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (not a great example considering it's wire-fu, but I think you get the idea). I don't care what period the piece covers (like I wouldn't mind an endorsement for Jackie Chan's recent 1911), but I do have a particular fascination with the War of the Three Kingdoms and with the Ming Dynasty or earlier. Anyone got something to quench that thirst?

I feel like I'm forgetting a few that I've seen. I've had Red Cliff 1 and 2 on my computer for 6 months probably and I haven't watched them somehow. All of the war epics kind of blur together after a while and I was burnt out. 13 Assassins stood out from the usual epics and was really damn good I thought.

It's kind of a funny story 7/10: it was cute. Kind of funny.

Wow. Kudos on trying out foreign films! That Jet Li Vs. Donnie Yen bout out of 'Hero' was a spectacle wasn't it?

    Avengers 6.5/10

This would mark the second time I've seen this film. Again, nothing special. Though, the effort put forth to get the film to actually happen is not without this average movie-goer's appreciation and respect. And it seems my qualms with the film's lackluster quality in terms of cinematography is not without support: http://www.superherohype.com/news/a...fister-calls-marvels-the-avengers-qappallingq

Also, the music score definitely leaves something to be desired. I hope to god Avengers 2 features a composer who will create for a much more enthralling listening experience.

    Yeah, it was so sick.

About a year ago I started going nuts with the foreign films. I don't have many more that are on my "yet-to-see" list, but there's a few. I'll admit I haven't been searching very hard for new ones to watch, though. The Ip Man movies and Red Cliffs are on that list.

It was a great experience watching all those different movies. I probably watched 50 different foreign films in a few months, all of which were very good. I really need to watch some of them over again. Good times.

If you want something decidedly different from Chinese, Kurosawa's oeuvre is worth a look. Rashomon is great.

Did you ever get the chance to see A Separation? If so, what did you think?

No. I've kind of been avoiding that one for some reason. The reviews are great so I don't know what my deal is.

    Sinister - 7/10

The most eerie part of the film are the recordings you watch with the main lead. Other than that the scares are pretty standard. The flick tends to be unintentionally funny here and there. Overall, not too shabby.

Got a date? take her/him out to this one and snuggle.

Indeed it is. ARGO is been getting lots of good press latley and it certainly is justified. The story has to be seen to believed considering its been based on a classified true story. Ben Afleck is shaping up to be a great director. very well made film.
