Toy Story 3: 5/5. The perfect ending to the Trilogy. Funny as Hell, well written Dialogue, Superb Animations, a moving Story, and the Spanish Buzz is THE thing. i LOVED it :)

Inception: 5/5. Christopher Nolans Masterpiece. I thought the Dark Knight was perfect, but this just exagerated it by any Standard. The Story is crazy but very well written, the Actors are top-notch (anyone else thinks, that Leo DiCaprio just nailed it with his performance here? i mean, he was a superb actor before (e.g. Shutter Island or The Departed) but this...just wow). The Effects were not too much, and the ending totally f***ed my head ;)

    Home:

I watched Michael Jackson's "This Is It" a few nights ago and as somebody who's always poked fun at him even after death, I found the movie to be very insightful and eye opening to him as a musician and artist. The man was a crowd pleaser and was very intelligent and in control of the way he wanted his performance to be, while also not stepping on people's toes and appearing as a tyrant. It was nice to see it presented as an archive of footage as opposed to an elaborate memorial. Aside from the preface there was no reference to his death. It was a little much on the music side, I was hoping for it to tip a lot more in the direction of behind the scenes/documentary footage than video of actual rehearsals. Still a great, well handled film. - 8/10

The same night I also watched another music documentary called "It Might Get Loud". It featured prominent guitarists from three generations of rock and roll- Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White- meeting to discuss their techniques and memories of getting into music and the guitar. It did a great job of contrasting their styles (The soulful, dynamic guitarist; the effects driven modern guitarist; and the luddite) and seemed to be edited with sometimes harsh honesty (For example cutting from The Edge's run down of his extremely complex effects system to Jack White's diatribe against modern and digital effects, which he perceives as taking the creativity out of music) the performance and dialogue were of a satisfying ratio. The only thing that annoyed me is that they seemed to show Jack White playing the piano a lot more than they showed him playing guitar. - 9.5/10

    Theater:

I saw "Dinner For Schmucks" yesterday and found it to be hilarious. Unlike Steve Carrel's other recent movie "Date Night" the trailer didn't give away the best parts, even though it was funny enough on its own. Without giving too much away I have to note that the blind man at the dinner provides probably the greatest moment in the entire movie. Also I should warn that there is a lot more plot to this movie than the trailer would suggest. The dinner itself isn't nearly as prominent as I expected which seemed to make the rest of the movie and its plot seem boring due to anticipation for what you would expect to be the high point of the movie. Pending home viewing at my own leisure, I'm going with 7/10 on this one.

Inception. I am probably among the millions of people who consider this movie the ultimate work of a genius, a masterpiece, a mind-blowing film. It's something that will be stuck in my head for a long time. Enough said.

I've never been a fan of either Vince Vaughn or Owen Wilson and their brand of comedy, but today I decided to check out Wedding Crashers after hearing good things about it. I didn't see the laugh-out-loud comedy that a lot of people see in it... at best it was a mildly entertaining romcom. They just played everything so safe.. none of the jokes really stood out as different. Very cliched and cheesy. 1.5/5

I saw Moon a few nights ago, excellent.

I'll be getting to that one soon, as well as the rest of Gilliams films. I thought Parnassus was very good.

Toy Story 3 - loved it. It was funny, heartwarming and the ending was perfect 9.5/10

The Karate Kid - I enjoyed this, little Jaden Smith will be a huge star like his parents. He can act well and is so adorable. Jackie Chan was great too. The movie was kind of long so I got a little bored. 8/10

    Alice In Wonderland (2010) 3/10

Reason for such a downrating is because...it's Alice in Wonderland! Not only doesn't it follow the traditional story of Alice of Wonderland but the mere fact that it was so overhyped, over nothing. Johnny Depp's role of the Madhatter had the quirks of Jack Sparrow and Helena Bonham Carter's character had the quirks of her role in Fight Club, Anne Hathaway's role reeked of Marilyn Manson in a female outfit - heh, not a good combination. Also made me wonder if Tim Burton was tripping out on acid when directing this.
Kudos to the visual effects and the makeup though.

    The Strangers - 5/10
Not a very good psychological mindfuck. We all know they all end up dead from the beginning.

    Price of Persia. 3/5
I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. The only thing that bugged me was the action sequences. They seemed very poorly choreographed and edited and it took me out of the movie a number of times. The video games have a lot of great moves but they didn't utilize any of those. They couldn't even pull of the one or two wall runs, one of the highlights of the game, with grace. Other than the action the movie was pretty good compared to a lot of the summer action/adventure movies.

    Splice. 1.5/5
I had really high hopes for this movie but I'd have to say that it was quite disappointing. The biggest problem with this movie is that it tries to juggle too many things at the same time. One minute I felt like I was watching a serious sci-fi horror with a touch of realism added to it, but the next minute a character does something so stupid and unrealistic [even with the suspension of disbelief in effect] it turns into a campy horror movie. They just couldn't decide what they wanted the movie to be. Some of the reasonings behind the science experiment and what follows seemed very forced to me, as if they were just trying to find a reason to justify the plot. With that said, I really liked the concept and suspense in the movie. Some of the scenes really creeped me out. But overall it remains a disappointment.
