    Hitman - 7/10

The story confused the fuck out of me. Thank god for the violence. That's the kind of blood I want to see in movies.

EDIT: If you want to check it out, check out the Unrated DVD as they pretty much amp the blood up a notch and add in a couple scenes.

    Persepolis - 9.5/10

    "
Persepolis is the poignant story of a young girl in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. It is through the eyes of precocious and outspoken nine year old Marjane that we see a people's hopes dashed as fundamentalists take power - forcing the veil on women and imprisoning thousands. Clever and fearless, she outsmarts the “social guardians” and discovers punk, ABBA and Iron Maiden. Yet when her uncle is senselessly executed and as bombs fall around Tehran in the Iran/Iraq war, the daily fear that permeates life in Iran is palpable. As she gets older, Marjane's boldness causes her parents to worry over her continued safety. And so, at age fourteen, they make the difficult decision to send her to school in Austria. Vulnerable and alone in a strange land, she endures the typical ordeals of a teenager. In addition, Marjane has to combat being equated with the religious fundamentalism and extremism she fled her country to escape. Over time, she gains acceptance, and even experiences love, but after high school she finds herself alone and horribly homesick. Though it means putting on the veil and living in a tyrannical society, Marjane decides to return to Iran to be close to her family. After a difficult period of adjustment, she enters art school and marries, all the while continuing to speak out against the hypocrisy she witnesses. At age 24, she realizes that while she is deeply Iranian, she cannot live in Iran. She then makes the heartbreaking decision to leave her homeland for France, optimistic about her future, shaped indelibly by her past. "

I saw this movie at the Goggle Works here in Reading, PA last night with a friend. She had to go see the movie for school (although with all the swearing and sex jokes I'm not sure if it was the best choice LOL), so I'll admit I went into this movie thinking it would be a total borefest. I was wrong.

For someone who rarely ever watches these independent films, much less an animated one...I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This movie has a beautiful story, great voice acting (considering it is all in French but subtitled) and the visual style is simply breathtaking. Everything about this movie struck me as awesome and I would gladly go ahead and see it again if I had the chance.

I rated it so high because of the fact it's a perfect combo of comedy and historical drama, and I would recommend it for anybody who wants to watch a good heartwarming story about growing up in an oppressive land. Very good film.

Very intriguing. Nowhere near as fantastic as House of Flying Daggers, but still gorgeous to watch

    Cloverfield

    6/10

Not a half bad movie, just not amazing either. Matt Reeves has certainly put a lot of though into this movie and make it seem as realistic as possible. The hand held camera idea was good and worked well to keep the viewer in suspense along with the added sound effects and the screaming citizens. The plot is well written and ultimately delivered well. This movie however is either love or hate, you’ll want to watch it again or you’ll argue with the cinema clerk for your money back.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    Vantage Point

    4/10

An interesting movie with a fairly standard plot focused around an assassination attempt on the president of the United States. The movie is very complex and has many different layers to it which is hard to keep a track of when viewing it. You will get a strong sense of DeJa Vous when you see the same scenario acted out 8 different times, however Pete Travis held it together in the end. It’s about as consistent as Pulp Fiction and it’s not a fantastic movie, it has little entertainment and is definitely not one to see again.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    Dairy of the Dead

    7/10

Blah blah blah, another zombie apocalypse movie, seen it all before. It may be another one, but it’s better than most. The dead are coming back to life to kill and we follow the story of a wanna-be journalist called Jason. The movie effects are stunning and the atmosphere of it is immersive and terrifying. A definite must see for any zombie fan or anyone who wants to be frightened. Romero has certainly got a knack of getting into the audiences mind with these sorts of films and this one does not disappoint.

    Across The Universe 10/10

I LOVED this movie. So many great classic songs used in it. It just made the story that much better.

I loved how well the songs fit in with their story.

    Horton Hears A Who! 8/10

Really fun; but it got a little too cheesy and ridiculous by the end XD. It makes sense for a kid's movie though.
