Giving it as not the kind of music I usually listen to, I couldn't put a genre to the song, thought I'd ask here and see what you guys think.

I'm interesting in knowing which common category would this song fit into,
so please, don't give me the classic answer : It's Linkiin Park :awesome:

PS: Do kindly check out my The Catalyst Remix (link down at my signature), thanks!

It might've been, I'm not sure.. But I know for certain that a lot of people think everything LP records is ground-breaking and has never been done before..

They may not be "ground breaking" but I do think they're unique in the sense that they can take multiple genres and fuse them and do it well. That includes Hybrid Theory (along with Meteora) and A Thousand Suns. I would have a hard time imagining a different band being able to make a song like "Faint", for example.

They might've been the best of the rap-rock bands with HT, but there are a lot of other bands that do electro-pop better than they did it on ATS.

Which of course doesn't mean they're bad now, but they're not the best either. And they're certainly not unique in their style of music and never were.

I admit my general electro-pop knowledge isn't the greatest but I thing songs like The Catalyst and WTCFM are pretty unique. Robot Boy may not be as unique but it's still as good as it gets when compared to what else is out there.

It takes a lot for a band to be truly unique nowadays with so much different music coming from every side.

And Robot Boy is my favourite song from the record, so as far as I'm concerned, they should stop trying to be unique and blend as many genres as they can and just record whatever comes to mind.

I personally just called it "electronica" and I put "piano" as a second tag. ;"

Robot Boy is kinda special for me, I almost hated it upon first listen through the album, but on the contrary it was the first song I listened back after the first full experience.
