Yep! The suspense and scared are so well done. I still haven't figured out the ending It's fantastic cinema
The Avengers - Age of Ultron (2015) - 3.5/5 I really didn't like the first one but this one was a huge improvement. Enjoyed the action sequences a lot for the most part. The visual style was also a step up. I liked how they pulled back Tony Stark's charm and give the other characters some more screen time and traits. Wasn't a fan of the Bruce/Natasha relationship angle and I thought the villain, yet again, was pretty forgettable. I was expecting Ultron to be more of a commanding character than he was. Overall, I definitely enjoyed it more than the first one.
Just Before I Go: 9/10 Unexpectedly funny. Two thumbs up. The Shining: 9/10 Great actors. Beautiful storyline. Can't wait to read the book! The Taking of Deborah Logan: 8.5/10 This is surprisingly enjoyable. I always find "found footage's" films dead after [REC] and The Blair Witch Project, but this movie simply revived my hope in found footage technique. Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck: 8/10 It was artistically done, but it is just depressing. Of course any movie that led to suicide would always be depressing. I read a lot of biographies about Kurt, but the film opened a lot of insights about the tortured man. Disturbingly sad. The Wedding Ringer: 6.5/10 I think the actors were great, but the movie just lack something. I didn't see myself enjoying and laughing all the way to think this was a comedy film. Echoes: 6/10 Good storyline. Bad actors. Honeymoon: 3/10 Beautiful actors, bad script writing. Seriously boring. Please don't waste your time watching this movie. I'm with you about this. A major disappointment. Got a good review on our local Weekend paper so I was really expecting much about this film. As a BIG fan of horror genre, I really don't get why this movie got massive reviews. Yes, the thought that someone you don't know keeps following you is scary enough, but the major letdown of this movie was the plot - nonsense. Watch it and critic it yourself.
^ I am all for slow-burns in horror, as long as it has something to offer in the way of story. This film had nothing. - [thumb]http://www.circlecinema.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/ExMachina.jpg[/thumb] Ex Machina (2015) - 3/5 Liked it for its visual flare and the premise. The problem for me was that they never took the story to any challenging or interesting place by the end. It hung on the edge of something interesting but always pulled back to typical storytelling places. I really liked the vagueness of Oscar Isaac's character. In fact, he was better than the lead. But they never explored his psyche, his reasoning behind building the AIs. That imo would've made a far more compelling story. With that said, the film does have some new ideas and intense moments which definitely deserves praise.
Instead of watching Big Game, Mad Max or even freaking Pitch Perfect, my mom forces me to watch Hot Pursuit. Barely funny, cliche-ridden and wastes its stars. - 3/10
Ex Machina was borderline bad. The story is completely straightforward and by the end I felt like I wasted my time. Was expecting something much deeper for such a highly rated sci-fi film. Edit: It's written by the same guy who wrote Sunshine, so it's all starting to make sense now.

I was expecting an interesting and fun movie and I got exactly that, plus some stuff I didn't expect to get out of it. The plot's pretty basic, but the execution is what sells the movie for me. Sure, it could've explored the themes a bit more thoroughly, but I feel like this movie is more about thought provokation rather than exploration. The acting is fine throughout the movie, no one does a bad job. Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikande steal the show, though. The score, I thought, was a perfect fit for the movie. Same thing goes for the visuals (which are stunning).
It's a sci-fi for people who want simple stories. I was expecting something incredibly compelling for all the praise it's been getting, so that's probably why I'm pissed at it. Every single time they could have explored a concept or philosophy on a deeper level they didn't. It was on the edge of being interesting, but it wasn't. The production was great and the effects were very nice. The acting was real good. I kept waiting for the story to take a meaningful turn, but it was slow the whole time and then the movie is over.
How dare you. Mad Max: Fury Road - 10/10 It's better than Road Warrior. I repeat. It's better than Road Warrior.
Maggie - Uneven storytelling, awkward plot points and jarring shots are compensated by terrific performances from Abigail Breslin and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yes, Arnold had a great performance in this movie (especially the movie MUCH less on him speaking, and more on his visual storytelling) - 7/10 Pitch Perfect 2 - Imperfect sequel, some cliches, but overall good acting, music and comedy - 7/10 Mad Max: Fury Road - HOT DAMN - 9/10
Just watched City of God... I'm speechless. The acting, cinematography, music, editing, style... Everything was impeccable. It really caters to my tastes, so that's probably why I love it so much. Easy 10/10. Easy money 10/10. In honor of all the great movies I've watched recently I made a top 10 list on IMBD. Feel free to check it out and let me know what movies you agree/disagree with. http://www.imdb.com/list/ls072781126/?publish=publish Edit: 800th post
EX MACHINA: 7/10 At the beginning of the movie, I was overwhelmed by the interior design of the house, oddest furniture and the modern art pieces. The film wasn't that superbly good and not notoriously bad either. It's an average film. It wasn't because the actors weren't good in portraying their characters. As a matter of fact, I think they were outstanding. It's just how each character was molded, build up and the way it was written - something an 'it" factor was lacking that you would be surprised as an audience. I gave a 7 because my expectation for this film wasn't that high - so less disappointment and then, there was a Jackson Pollock painting. I mean, who wouldn't be biased? LARS & THE REAL GIRL: 9/10 Hands down (as always) to Ryan Gosling as well as to the people behind this movie. It was an eccentric, awkward, and light love story. Not my ordinary cup of tea when it comes romantic comedy, but definitely worth watching.
I dunno... The first chase was amazing, but then it got a bit boring when there was no action. The second chase was great as well... Also, Max was the least interesting character of them all... and Tom Hardy has no charisma like Mel Gibson.
mad max: fury road - 8.5/10 fun as fuck, and generally brilliant. literally some of the best action i've seen. go see it
[thumb]http://cdn.theawl.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/maaaad.jpg[/thumb] Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - 9/10 Holy shit. Easily one of the best movies I've seen the last couple years. The movie looks beautiful, the acting for the most part is great, the action sequences are fucking amazing and the story, to my surprise, quite interesting. Another great thing about the movie is how the score interacts with what you see on screen. Some editing choices I found a bit weird, though, and Tom Hardy didn't completely sell me on his performance as Max. But he isn't the star of the show, because: Charlize Theron. Man, does she steal the show in the movie. Really awesome performance, with a strong presence in every scene she's in. Nicholas Hoult also does a great job. At this point, this is easily my number one movie of the year.
[thumb]http://cdn-static.denofgeek.com/sites/denofgeek/files/1/18//mad-max-main.jpg[/thumb] Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - 5/5 Hands down one of the best action films I have ever seen. It is relentless! There were moments when I just kept thinking "How the hell did they do that?" It is so refreshing to see an action film in 2015 that doesn't rely overly on CGI and still manage to pack a punch. The theatrics behind the action sequences are mindblowing. Definitely feels like a film people are gonna talk about for years to come.
Love and other drugs - 6.5/10 Overall this film makes you feel the same way you would if you stuffed yourself with too much candy. A few good men - 8/10 Its was simple, sure but it was done well, so I liked it. Limitless - 2/10 That ending was such a shoed in dumb letdown. I was just expecting a darker plot. The movie would have been a million times better if Bradley Cooper's annoying character had just died. Would've have been more justified. I could go on but nah. *3 year old telling a story*- "And then he become the president and tells the bad guy to go suck it and then he lives happily ever after". Yeah, right. . House of wax - 7/10 I know it is a badly rated film but I enjoyed it. Blast from the past - 4/10 Stupid and wacky.
[thumb]https://www.eventival.eu/files/68/editions/469/films/155744/accessories/89262.jpg[/thumb] The Drop (2014) - 3.5/5 Only thing I really liked about it was Tom Hardy's performance. It was as if he was channeling Mike Tyson a little bit haha. Other than that, the film had some tensed moments sprinkled throughout but overall it felt a little dull and blunt.
