Actually, looks like there IS a story behind the video:

"I presented my concept to Billie Joe, because I know the song is personal to him, and he loved that it's all about youth and dreams and bonds that get broken," Bayer said Tuesday (April 19). "We wanted to make a mini-movie about a boy and a girl that fall in love and have the rest of their lives ahead of them, but the boy joins the Army and leaves her behind to go to war. It's my interpretation of Billie Joe's very personal song."

Now I'm very interested in seeing the video.

The Boulevard of Broken Dreams video is amusing to see Billie not play guitar for half the song when you can hear guitar playing.

Does anybody even know who that guy is? I noticed on VH1 Storytellers that green Day uses a total of 7 musicians live, I mean that's all cool and everything, they're making a bigger sound, but they should at least give them some credit...

Wake Me Up When September Ends is one of the few songs Billie actually plays the solo on.

Why would you give live musicians credit on an album they don't appear on?

Yea and at every show (At least the ones I've seen) he always announces their names to the fans during one song.

They should at least give Jason credit because he plays in pretty much every song.

But he doesn't play on the actual album, so why give him credit in liner notes or something?

Well just an example, in the credits for Hybrid Theory before Phoenix re-joined Linkin Park, they had Scott Koziol credited as "touring bass player."

The only Green Day live show I've seen in any large portion was VH1 Storytellers and Billie didn't mention anybody besides Tre and Mike, but if he gives shoutouts to the other guys live then that's cool.

So the 2nd guitarist's name is Jason, alright, and I think the keyboard player's name is Kurt...still dunno who the 3rd guitarist on Are We the Waiting, St. Jimmy, and Give Me Novocaine on VH1 was, or the guy that stands in the back and does like the timpani drums and french horn and saxophone and stuff...what really bugs me is when the band plays live and you can tell the cameras deliberately avoid stand-in musicians like them.

The third guy who plays on those songs is most likely the guitar tech, and I'm pretty sure that the extra stuff you hear like the timpani drums and stuff, are just played from the computer like the verse guitar on Boulevard on Broken Dreams.

The timpanis, the tremolo guitar on BOBD, and the short interlude riff on Whatsername are recorded sounds, and the pianist's name is Jason Freese

The timpanis I'm talking about are at the end of Homecoming, the very last part where Mike sings "Nobody likes you..." On VH1 Storytellers there was definately a guy playing timpani drums, it showed a clear shot of him doing it...the other 2 are right though, I think the interlude riff on Whatsername and the tremolo on BOBD are controlled by a trigger on Tre's drumset because those are the only 2 songs he wears headphones on.

Jason Freese...any relation to Josh Freese? I just know him as "that piano guy with the funny hat." :p

He just uses the headphones because the tremelo guitar has a set tempo so Tre wears the headphones to hear the click.

Oh, my bad. But I think Accuser's right. Tre probably wears the headphones to keep track of the tempo.

Just a note, the timpanis are also in We're Coming Home Again. At least, they are in the album. I wouldn't know. I missed that part of the song.

    Damn this topic went somewhere.

Alright, I know this is necroposting and double posting, but I have news. The video has premiered in the UK, so all of you there are lucky. For the rest, I've got a synopsis.

The video starts with a conversation between a couple in which the girl is telling him to never leave her. The music begins, and we see shots of Billie Joe singing, but mostly shots of the couple running around, having fun, and whatnot. That continues until just before the drums come in. It cuts to the couple on a porch fighting, and the girl's screaming things like "Why did you do this?" and "Oh my god!" while the guy is yelling back at her. The music comes back in, and we see the band again, but then it cuts to the guy. He's on a bus, and he gets off with a few other men at an Army camp...thing. His head is shaved, and he is sent into battle. While we still see shots of the band, it is mostly the guy and other soldiers marching beside a vehicle through a wrecked city. Suddenly, a missile strikes, and the battle is on. I'll answer your question now: No, the guy does not die. Anyway, we still see shots of the girl moping around her house, and then the guy, then the band. Near the end, a soldier is shot, and the guy looks helplessly from behind a wall with a sort of look of shock. This is shown a couple of times, and the song ends, showing the girl sitting on some rusty bleachers. She says, "You told me you'd never leave me." and it fades to black. Altogether, the video is 7 minutes, 9 seconds.
