    because if you don't turn it off, the virus will still be in all the back-up files.

    If the virus was making files and calling them 'bf1942 crack' and whatnot, you most likely got it from a fileshare client. I had one like this. May I suggest a new antivirus.

    I use this myself and personally, it has preformed better than Norton or McAfee. It never runs out, and it isn't a trial of any sort. The only 'downside' is that you get no technical support. It's small and it updates at least once a week. Give it a try, you might really like it.
