it would be interesting to see what they would do if they got another lead singer but it seems to be that alot of groups from the same time as GNR never seem to get along, what was that reality show a while back where they took a few random 80s group ppl and made a band? all they did was argue lol and the band never really made it same when motley crue tried getting back together, they werent together for too long before they broke up again and now just the lead singer tours w/ all diff band members but still calls themselves motley crue... on a side note i thought it was awesome when chester sang paradise city w/ slash and basically everyone minus axl from GNR, itd be cool if they made an album together as a small side project
I think a lot of bands from that time were in it for the wrong reasons and it really got to their heads when they got big. They started thinking they were kings when in fact, they should have been playing the music for the sake of the music and not for the royalties. I.E. KISS.
Who know's how the others would do on their own? Weiland and Rose were the major creative force behind GnR and Velvet Revolver. I'd be interested to hear a song they all came up with independent of their vocalist mind.
He's not Slash though... I dunno, I don't know that Weiland wrote that much for Contraband. His influence on Libertad is obvious though.
He's not saying he was the one who wrote the songs. He's saying that he was probably the one who said, "Hey, I'm Scott fucking Weiland, now play what I tell you to."
He's saying that Axl Rose and Scott Weiland are control freaks and only want things done the way they want them done.
I'm positive Weiland wrote most of both their albums. Of course the album credits say "All song written by Scott, Duff, Slash, etc" but that's what most rock bands do. (Thank god Soundgarden didn't and we can see how much of a genius Chris Cornell is) The riff for Dirty Little Thing is just a sped up Sex Type Thing. I just hear consitencies in the songwriting from STP to Velvet Revolver that are likely to be because of the same prominent songwriter. If you replaced Slash's guitar with DeLeo's it would sound like a sub-par Stone Temple Pilots album. Probably.
is it just me or did it seem that contraband was just a little different tone then libertad? I agree there was proly different writers that wrote a majority of the album for each album
Okay...Slash has broken the silence on the topic. Source What the fuck is going on with this band? It's becoming a joke now.
Sounds like they might tell Scott Weiland to piss off. The mystery is why didn't they do that sooner.
