Actually, when i read 15 tracks, i hoped and thought a lot on Year Zero, it seemed reasonable:

And that all makes 63 minutes and 51 seconds. We can remove some and replace with shorter interludes, i still don't see this album being less than 55 minutes.
I will believe once i will see official statements. That USA TODAY, i repeat, to me is not affidable enough.

EDIT: And i know Quality>Quantity.
But to me LP is quality only, so the more, the better, lolz.

btw, I bet that 5:42 for The Catalyst actually included the next song on the album which is an instrumental

 

Yes, that's exactly what i meant when i said, the video might be shorter of a minute, because the outro might be as in Shadow of the Day, leading to the next song, but not fitting in the video. So the video might be 4:50, and the album song 5:42. I can see that coming, but it's not a problem, even if a song shouldn't ever get cut in my opinion. It is done to be one sweet creature. Is art.
You don't cut a Picasso if your frame is too little.

 

Actually i understood he intended that part of the outro of the Catalyst will be the start of The Messenger...

 

I wouldn't look into Dave's quote too much. He's not going to give an exact album length in an interview.

 

Where was it said that The Catalyst was followed by an instrumental?

I highly doubt if the album will only be like, 45 minutes. "Drummer" Dave can't say something like "We definitely made it to be listened to as a journey, as a sixty-three minutes forty two point two second album."
