I am pretty much "thinking out loud" here. I'm not saying its going to be a great movie, but I am saying on the chance that it does happen.
MICHAEL BAY MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE I saw the first two films and they were pure garbage to me. Not planning to watch the third or the next five they make..
I'll make it easy for you. http://vimeo.com/36211614 ^ Pretty much the few minutes that are worth watching in the film.
I think I dislike Michael Bay more for co-founding Platinum Dunes (a production company responsible for some of the most pedestrian horror movies in recent memory) than I do for his actual directing.
Meh. I like TF1, solid popcorn/action flick. I also enjoy the Bad Boys films and thought The Rock was quite good. I'd have no problem saying "this movie is great" if he actually made a great one. But after 9 movies it hasn't happened & I have no reason to imagine he's going to start now. TF2 & 3 were just so obnoxiously stupid. The mind boggles at how much money those films made. The effects teams deserve every bit of praise they get, & conversely Bay deserves every bit of stick he gets. Funny thing, a few weeks ago I was watching a critic called Mark Kermode review TF3. He said as a director Bay has "pornographic sensibilities", and I thought "that's exactly it". 10 minutes ago I was looking up Bay's catalogue on IMDB and I see Bay's second directorial gig - "Playboy Video Centerfold: Kerri Kendall" - and I thought "well that explains everything" I'm just glad we have a Nolan type showing studios you don't have to sacrifice the smarts in favour of action to make a billion dollars. It also looks like Joss Whedon is going to deliver a clever, well written story & great characters along with big action in The Avengers (early word from test screenings says it's fantastic). So hope for Hollywood isn't lost.
Well you'll be flabbergasted with someone I know who criticised the crap out of Nolan's "Inception" calling it ridiculous, ludicrous, brain numbingly awful etc etc. I replied with: "Wow if you hated this, what the hell must you have thought on films like Transformers!" He then responded with "I often call Chris Nolan, Michalel Bay's Pretentious brother" To that I had no response! Ironically he has since deleted himself off Facebook, yet his review on rottenTomatoes.com remains.
New article regarding possible characters in Transformers 4. http://m.ign.com/articles/1219225 Thoughts?
Eh, Beast Wars is a different universe altogether. It really wouldn't fit into the Bay-former films. Unicron in the next film would be fucking cool though.
We won't know which Transformers to expect until the script has gone through a draft or two, which is around the time actors are being cast.
Correction: Beast Wars was a sequel to the original TF (generation one) series. It was set like 100 years after the events of the orginal 4 series/comics/movie
