I'll just list bands since I only really listen to rock anymore, aside from rap, EDM, and slight r&b(Miguel, Aloe Blacc, and Frank Ocean, pretty much) moods that last for no more than a few days. 10. Radiohead (I can almost admit they're here for credibility more than anything, but I seriously love and respect their music and influence on many of the bands on this list. OK Computer is one of my "experience" albums, or one's that when I listen to I clear time for and put on the headphones full-blast. I also enjoy Kid A, the Bends, and In Rainbows.) 9. twenty one pilots (Would have been higher 6 months ago, but I honestly don't listen to them that much anymore. Still, I enjoy them when I do listen to them and they're one of the most relatable bands out there for me, lyrically. Plus, they're very unique and represent indie pop on this list, which is one of my favorite rock sub-genres.) 8. The Wonder Years (Another band that would have been much higher not that much long ago, as I go through cycles with my music taste. Still, all I did was listen to them for about a month straight and they proved to me pop punk wasn't dead. They're the band I relate to the most lyrically, especially "The Upsides", as I am currently an awkward college student with a lot of anxiety; just like they wrote about on that album.) 7. Coldplay (Represent the softer spectrum of my music taste. Only listen to their singles, unlike the other bands on this list, but I can listen to them regularly, and they have great emotion.) 6. Deftones (The heaviest band on this list, though not the heaviest band I listen to (Slipknot takes that title). I consider them the Radiohead of metal, which to me means experimental but still mainstream enough to enjoy and has an atmospheric electronic layer to add to their rockiness. "White Pony" is higher than "OK Computer" as an experience album for me. Their other albums are great too, and my favorite aspect of the band, and what makes them higher than Radiohead, is the dynamic of the mellowness and atmosphere of Chino's singing and the electronic textures, along with the brutalness of the guitars and Chino's screams.) 5. A Day to Remember (Not the most talented or diverse band, but one band I don't ever get tired of no matter where my music taste cycles. All their songs; including the non-singles, are just so freaking catchy. Plus their energy and occasional heaviness makes them great for working out. "You Should Have Killed Me When You had The Chance" is one of my favorite songs ever, and has great emotion to add to everything I love about them.) 4.blink-182 (A band I don't listen to full albums by or much lately, but mean a lot to me due to a certain time in my life where they almost surpassed Linkin Park as my favorite band. They also got me to listen to Radio 104.5 regularly, which changed my life and made me the huge rock fanatic I am today. Also, they're music is pretty damn good and they made pop-punk what it is, meaning they're arguably responsible for 2 of the bands on this list existence, to add to setting me on the path to discover every band on this list except themselves, LP, and Coldplay.) 3. Thrice (This is exactly what I've been listening to lately. I didn't start listening to them until a month ago, but I don't know what I did without them. They're criminally underrated (shout out to Qwerty19 for including them) and I hope most of you check them out. They're the "Radiohead of post-hardcore", for me. The only band to have 2 "experience" albums (Vheissu and The Alchemy Index). "Vheissu" is their "OK", and blows my mind with it's song structures and atmosphere, to add to their already established post-hardcore sound. "The Alchemy Index" doesn't have as good songs as "Vheissu", but is very ambitious in it's concept, and executes it rather well. Basically, it consists of 4 6-song EP's; each one taking on the sound and lyrical content of a certain element (Fire, Water, Air, and Earth). Their stuff prior to "Vheissu" isn't as mind-blowing or dynamic as these 2 albums, but is still top notch post-harcore. The only reason they're not 2nd is because I haven't been listening to them long enough, and there's no memories attached to the music yet.) 2. Incubus (Also recalls back to a certain time in my life that was very crucial to making me who I am today, during which I was obsessed with Incubus. Damn great band, especially "S.C.I.E.N.C.E", "Make Yourself", and "Morning View", with Brandon Boyd being one of my favorite voices in rock. They're the only band other than LP to have 2 songs in my top 10 ever (Pardon Me and Drive).) 1. Linkin Park (Been my favorite band since 8th grade and mean a lot to me since they got me through high school; and when I started listening to them non-stop is when I finally started to get some confidence. Plus, their music isn't too shabby. Their diversity basically ranges all the kinds of rock I like; except pop punk; and they're great at all those aspects, which means I can listen too them no matter what mood I'm in. A perk is that them and blink-182 are the only two bands on this list that I also loved as a kid during my first wave as a rock fan.)
