I didn't write this, but I have always liked this little piece of writing.

I know I am the only mom here, but I wanted to wish all of your mom's a Happy Mother's Day.


Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom... I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Donatella and Merric, I love you so much. Being your mom is the best thing ever.

 

I have no clue why, but I just started singing Take On Me. My sister joined in.

 

Dunno why my hand feels like I rubbed chili all over it.

Greeting card holidays always crack me up anyway.

Shouldn't you appreciate your mother all of the time? Should there have to be a single day that is set aside for them?

@ Dedicated, its celebrated today by more countries than on any other day.

 

I get how it happened, but it's kinda weird that there has to be a single day set aside to appreciate our mothers. Same with Father's Day. Can't we just celebrate them and appreciate them all year? That's what people used to do, isn't it?

 

At least for me, its one of two days I let my kids anywhere near the kitchen, (the other being Father's day) they insist on making me breakfast, with help from their dad, and they have fun, so its nice. For one day a year, they do all the things I usually do.

I guess I just see it differently because I am a mom.

I always thought that Mother's Day was to kinda spur kids to help their mom's all year. I mean, it's the least they can do, because you know, your mom only brought you into the world.

That's just my opinion though, and the way I was raised. You don't go out of your way to help your mom on one specific day, you do it all of the time.

 

You could make the same argument against most holidays, though.

 

I don't think my children owe me for bringing them into the world, because I chose to have them. That's just my opinion though.

My children are also very young still, so I don't expect as much from them as I will when they are teenagers.

 

I like that opinion.
