On another note, my new band Tides are currently working on 6 songs and are looking to be gigging by the end of summer So fucking excited! XD

 

Awesome man. Like I said before, let me know the instant you guys have stuff recorded. Who knows, maybe a joint gig in summer time? haha

Hopefully by then we'll have our uber cool deathwagon (tour van). Shexy times.

 

Dedicated and Luke, you guys need to give me some tips on recording.
What programs do you use?
What is the easiest setup (gear) to record? (Especially acoustic stuff)

Edit: @Nick, last time I recorded anything I used Logic Pro 8 (note that you can only get it for Mac's). Other than that you need a decent audio interface (I just used my mates but I'm not sure which one it is), cables and a decent mic (I'd suggest a condenser). Then you just basically plug and play once it's set up.

If you're looking to record stuff for cheap then I'd recommend downloading Audacity for free and buying a mic. There's a recording section of Audacity and if you get a lead/headphone converter (no idea what the actual name is sorry, but they're really cheap) then you can plug the lead from the mic straight into the computer and you're ready to record.

If it's just acoustic playing and singing it'll turn out great. I've have recorded with 6 instruments playing at one time and it still turns out pretty good. Be sure not to put the mic too close to the instrument though and keep it fairly close to your mouth so the vocals will come out cleanly.

I'd also recommend buying a decent mic for the whole procedure - the mic we use costed little over £7/$14 so if you could get like a mic for around $25 that would probably ensure decent quality.

 

Depending on how high quality you want your recordings you could always use the microphone you get with Rock Band, I've heard it's pretty decent but I can't vouch for it myself.

In all fairness, it just depends how high quality you want your recordings to be. If you want really good quality ones then you may as well just pay for studio time.

I use Audacity right now but I guess i'm not that good yet I guess.

We recorded through the PA system to my Line In for my guitar and Vocal tracks (www.myspace.com/dawnduskmusic) check out the top 2 songs (recorded today)

The PA system came with a Mic and I like it, I just don't know how to get that good Acoustic sound I guess for Vocals on top of the guitar.

...Adam Lambert has earned his passport to stardom. There are still some awesome performers though who also deserve passports.
