Derek, I didn't want to mention names, but in my opinion, you, Mark, and Keaton are the only people running this place right. Don't think I have anything against you.

 

I think that the mods/admins get away with a lot more than a regular member would, but I dunno. I usually try to keep my mouth shut about it. Some Mods/Admins highly disrespect some members (teenie or not) and almost all of the time, its uncalled for and if a regular member had of said something like it then they would have gotten a warning. I love this forum but I dont agree with a few of the things that go on. I just dont speak out about it.

 

I know I'm just repeating again, but it's not the rules that are the problem : it's the tendency for people to make a fucking story out of everything.

 

Also, if you close this thread, it will lead to more problems. We need to settle this now.

Paul, my point was that sarcasm is generally a nonverbal thing, therefore, it is nearly impossible to discern sarcasm in plain text unless it is staring you in the face.

I don't know you, I don't know whether you tend to be sarcastic or not, and I've seen so many people claiming to be hardcore and punk over message boards that I'm just kind of sick of it. Sure, I judged a bit hastily, but so did you. Shall we call it a truce and not speak of this again?

 

It's gonna end up like the last one, off topic and without a solution. I sometimes doubt about the goodwill of many members.

 

I only focused on the Casey thing because of the fact I know this rant was influenced by Casey. You wouldn't have even batted an eye at the mp3 thing if we didn't ban Casey, and you know that.

I didn't really mean that. I just needed a good opening sentence.

Of course this what influenced by the banning of Casey. He should of gotten a temporary ban rather than a perminet one.

This site is far from being the worst.

The problem is that, again, Will acted too swiftly, without talking about it to the concerned people. Trigger happy, we say. What happened after was pure-LPAesque. Massive reaction followed by Will leaving for the 5th time. Crisis. Hell yeah. 3rd time at least this forum goes through such stuff.

No offense to Will, but he needs to decide whether he is going to stay or not. Usually he is the center of the drama.

 

Derek, don't take any of this personally because I think you're a good admin. But I disagree with some of what you said.

1) Casey should have gotten his third warning months ago? Maybe you're right. But he didn't. And what he did get warned for was dumb, in my opinion. He and Branden were joking around.

2) There is a big difference between unmoderated forums like the LPMB and super-tight moderation. I don't think anyone here, including Paul, would ever take the LPMB over the LPA. Overall I think you guys find a good balance, but there are times when yes, I think it goes overboard.

3) Paul is the only one who said he thought the LPA was the worst run fansite, so I'm going to assume that was only directed at him. I don't think anyone would be here if we didn't think the LPA was well run.

But you know, it would feel nice to think that maybe when a member said "Whoa, that was way to harsh." We'd get more then a lecture about how hard it is to moderate forums and how much we don't understand. Maybe it's just my personality, but to tell you the truth a lot of admins do not seem approachable. Obviously I can't see what goes on in the staff forums, so maybe you guys do talk about our opinions--but nothing ever seems to change. We just recently had a huge group hug - AKA "This Animosity Needs To Stop" thread, and yet here we are all over again.

I don't know. I love the LPA, but it would feel good to know that the opinion of the forums users counted a little more.
