It baffles me to think they wouldn't just do those shows by themselves. I mean, sure, the writers probably helped drive a lot of the dialogue on those shows, but Jon and Stephen are smart enough, they could probably ad lib everything and the show would be just as good if not better than normal.
http://tv.ign.com/articles/832/832730p1.html IGN has written an informative article about the strike. Heres a list of the affected shows: - Heroes - Lost - 24 - The Office - Pushing Daisies - Prison Break - House - The Daily Show - The Colbert Report - The Simpsons - Battlestar Galcatica - The Big Bang Theory - Chuck - Private Practive - Samantha Who? - Gossip Girl - Back to You - Bionic Woman - Moonlight - Journeyman - Reaper - Aliens in America - K-Ville - Cavemen - Jericho Heres some more in depth news about some of the shows. - Lost and 24 might not air at all this year. - Prison Break wont be affected to badly, as they have it written up to the episode that would have acted as their mid-season cliffhanger. - Fox is going to save one episode of House for after the super bowl, but the rest of the episodes will run out before that time. - Jericho is actually affected positively by this, as they have all of season 2 already shot. This means that they can come in mid-season when all the other scripted shows have gone into repeats, and get some viewers.
An easy explaination for the Writer's Strike. I'd strike for this. The writers are in a ridiculous situation so I think they have all the right to strike because they are not getting what they have the right for to get. It's the industry that needs to wake up and make an end to the strike, not the writers.
