It's stupid, imo. If Paul Martin agreed with the BMD plan, I swear I would of moved from Canada. The BMD are useless, no need for them, they'll just make things worse.

Most of you are disagreeing with it because you hate Bush I'm thinking. What if some other president tried this? Would you be thinking the same thing? I personally don't see anything too bad with this. If for some reason someone DOES attack North America, this will protect us. Well, ideally.

    That's blasphemous.

If any leader risked the start of another arms race over excessive paranoia, I know I sure as hell wouldn't agree with it. I'd also disagree with the launching of missiles from space over my homeland. US "smart bombs" can't even hit the right targets in Iraq, how the hell are they going to perfect accuracy on an untested, never-before-done, missile system from thousands of miles away in space? It makes no sense.

And not to sound cocky, but who the hell is going to attack Canada or Mexico, unless inadvertently. Canada hasn't participated in the Iraq war, and are merely peacekeepers in Afghanistan. 99.9% of the threat is on the United States, so if anyone was to attack anywhere in North America, it'd be the US.

Lastly, if someone actually did have these "weapons of mass destruction", (i.e: nuclear), blowing it up in the air and spreading the toxins all over the world is hardly my idea of saving lives. They'll only kill more people in other countries in the long run, and it would hurt the environment and wildlife very much. If the US really wants to avoid getting attacked, stop attacking without merit!

Ahhh, okay. I was just curious because I wanted to show it to my professor. Thanks, though.

Really....and do you know what would protect us even more?

The eradication of nuclear weapons internationally.

It should be "The Militarization Of Space".

like hell that would ever happen. there will ALWAYS be someone somewhere, storing nuclear weapons. and even if someone had tried to make all nuclear weapons destroyed, that could possibly trigger the anger of a country who has them, and doesnt want to destroy them. which could lead to a nuclear war.

Actually, I believe it was during the Reagan administration in the 80s when the Russian government came to them offering to eradicate all of their nuclear missiles if the US government did so as well. It was shot down.

Edit: Yeah. Apparently Reagan and Gorbachev (Russia's prime minister at the time), agreed to the abolition of Nuclear Weapons in 1985, but the policy was never ratified. Source

Now I remember why I stay out of the more political topics. People freak out over the smallest things.

Well, you can't expect people not to have a rebuttal when you say their views are biased. Can't handle the heat, stay away from the fire.
