It's like if Walter White never was diagnosed with cancer, his family already had millions of dollars, and he was randomly cooking meth for 4 seasons just because. Where is this going? What is the point? The first season of The Walking Dead was good because you had them actively searching for the CDC and a cure. There was something for the viewer to keep locked into. Now since there is no direction whatsoever, the show relies entirely on its characters and narrative, which are weak to be sure. They need to leave the prison and give the viewer some reason to keep interested in this story, because the writing isn't strong enough to stay in one spot and focus on the characters. The worst part about this show is that it turns people into morons just to show us killing scenes or move the story in the direction they want. These people have been living in this world for over a year! They wouldn't have survived this long if they were idiots. If you're going to make a survival show, it can't be filled with caricatures. Give us some realism. By now survival of the fittest has done its job and we should be left with the cream of the crop for the most part.
I agree with this for most of the series. Although I do think the first two episodes of this seasons have surprisingly held their own. Rick actually feels like an interesting character right now.
I don't like what they did to Carl, making it seem like he killed that kid in cold blood at the end of last season so now Rick and Hershel think he's a maniac. That's clearly not what the scene showed. For how crap his character was starting out, he became the most real and interesting character. He became hardened and more calculated instead of emotional. He was growing up to be a man's man while everyone else was getting themselves killed or acting like morons. He was even smarter and more composed than his father. He's still that way it seems, but having his dad and Hershel treat him like a bad person puts a sour taste in my mouth. Rick is more interesting because he's not crazy anymore apparently. That was such a stupid turn last year. Farmer Rick seems to have a more solid mental foundation like he did in Season 1. Edit: Actually I didn't like when he went off in the woods with that random lady in the first episode this year. It made him seem compassionate, which is fine, but careless and unguarded. There's only so many times you can make mistakes in a world like that and keep surviving, and he got away with one there.
Oh, I'm 100% sure they're gonna leave the prison soon. From the interviews I've heard, Scott Gimple seems to be trying to revamp the series into including more elements of the comics. I don't know if he'll pull it off, but we'll see. Maybe that means he'll go forward with badass Carl (they're hinting that in the first episode of 2014) and Rick trying to return to a normal life. The "Rick-going-crazy" storyline was actually from the comics, although I agree with you that it took much longer than it should have. Since David Morrissey has been cast in a new show, it's safe to say he'll die this year; there have also been photos of Andrew Lincoln's whole right hand bandaged like it was amputated. Plus, Gimple's episodes are either batshit crazy action ("Save the Last One") or strangely minimalistic ("18 Miles Out", "Clear") so I think we can trust him a little bit. I don't think he's Frank Darabont, but he's not as inconsistent as Glen Mazzara. Speaking of Frank Darabont, his Mob City show with Jon Bernthal (Shane), Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale), Milo Ventimiglia (from Heroes) and Alexa Davalos is premiering on December. Simon Pegg will guest star in the pilot. The first season is six episodes. Ernie Hudson will also be a recurring guest star.
To the best of my knowledge (I haven't watched the show), he was going to die anyway. There was no point. You have your reasons for watching The Walking Dead. Fine. But you've never really seen it as a great show, right? So why are you expecting it to be one, and why are you complaining after every episode (that you choose to watch), about it not being one? Let me quote you once more: ~ I can't keep you from posting and saying your opinion, though. Do what you want, but this is how I feel about it.
I felt the same after the episode was done, but like with HIMYM I then thought "I have gotten this far, I'm not gonna give up before it's done!" Maybe not a good thing that watching a TV show is a struggle and a chore, but whatever.
The episode doesn't air here for another five days, so I decided to look at recaps. While I like the subplots, it's littered with references from the comics and action scenes that feel rushed. There's so many scenes that I can already cite from the comics. Robert Kirkman may be an awesome comic book writer, but he might need to work on his screenplay writing more. Maybe he's too focused on the comics. Also, another theory: what if Carol is the counterpart of comics Andrea and the two girls are counterparts of Ben and Billy from the comics?
Good news! http://www.nerdist.com/2013/10/season-5-confirmed-no-rest-for-the-walking-dead-on-amc/ I guess...
For those interested in the game: http://mashable.com/2013/10/29/walking-dead-season-2-clementine/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-main-link
^Hopefully the game will make it possible to keep Clementine's choices a child's choices, yet not too childish for what the player would say/do. Although I don't think this is anything to worry about since the game has proven itself very real and fantastically written. In fact it might be my favorite among the The Walking Dead media.
I liked the episode... I'm interested what they're going to do with Carol. (I've always liked her, wat!?)
Yeah, I was wondering about that as well. I think that Rick will put her somewhere safe first, otherwise Tyreese would kill her. I think Rick cares enough not to just yell out "IT WAS HER!"
If Tyreese doesn't find out soon, that's when I riot. It would be a hugely missed opportunity. Also they should definitely kick her off the council. Wanna know how she's going to make up for murdering two people...
