I think i should listen to Converge again. In the past couple of days I've seen Keith Buckley and THE Dean speak highly of them, and that usually means awesomeness. Well at least for Dillinger Escape Plan it did.
They're a really hard band to get into, or at least they were for me. I used to hate them, but then I listened to Jane Doe on a whim about a year ago, and now they're one of my favourite bands.
Yeah, Oli sings as well. He does clean singing, punk-style shouting, his highs are almost feminine, and his lows are really, really deep. So nothing outright fantastic, but I like his range. Personally I'm not bothered if you do hate BMTH with a passion, I used to myself, and I'm now over the fact they are a very, very easy band to hate. That's what opinions are for I guess *shrugs* . score for Mikael. I also agree that Jesse isn't as accomplished a clean singer as Howard, but I mainly listed him for his screaming. And agreed with Dean on Jake Bannon. Oh, and I'd also like to add Rody Walker from Protest the Hero.
I think two of my favourite vocalists are probably Steve Brodsky and Caleb Scofield from Cave In, although they probably can't lay claim to as much as far as influence and whatnot is concerned. They seem to have had a pretty big influence on Muse (right down to both bands touring together and being the first two to have Rich Costey produce for them) and Alexisonfire though, as well as various metalcore bands with their earlier work. Caleb is an amazing bass player as well.
I don't really have anything against U2 as musicians. It's just that they're dicks with the audacity to promote charities associated with third world poverty while hoarding all of their own money in tax havens.
So Jane Doe is the first album i should try? And for all three Mikael Akerfeldt nominations i think i'll go create a new 'Metal Thread', remember that?
The Joshua Tree by U2 is a fucking great album with a fucking great vocalist, putting aside Bono's popularity. Lol, Bono lives nextdoor to Enya.
So I listened to Jane Doe today. and woah. It was soo awesome, the title track is very epic. I guess when i first listened to them i was just getting into the 'core and didn't really understand them, but now that i do it's awesome.
