    I remember when they were filming the music video for Faint... It was filmed in So cal. An invitation was emailed out to members of the LPU to come out and wear all black. I also remember the production of Faint in that the crowd was multiplied to fill the "arena." I also remembered the concept being they wanted the song to feature the energy of members of the LPU/crowd rather than really focus on the band. (A different perspective of a performance video.) /meaningofvideodiscussion.

    Clearly, number two. The question then becomes, in what way is Chester interacting with the audience? Well, first off, he's carrying a water bottle, which has unmistakable phallic associations. This becomes clearer when he holds the bottle between his hips and metaphorically ejaculates all over the audience (symbolizing the relationship of artist and viewer). Second off, he's declaring to the audience, "I won't be ignored," which acknowledges simultaneous attraction and repulsion, when paired with his dismissive dousing of the audience in symbolic semen. Thirdly, he's held in shadow for much of the video, along with the audience, which inevitably calls to mind Jung's notions of the "shadow" of the subconscious. Recall that Jung contemporary Sigmund Freud established the first notions of sexual psychoses (anal retention, et cetera), and you have an undeniable conclusion: Chester's complex and painful "release" (emotion as presented through sex) has so exhausted him that he's about to "faint."
