but that ending riff makes the perfect transition, I LOVE that riff. the song's sorta blackened in a lame way, on that album I prefer tunes such as I Dreamed I Died, The Mountain and Devil's Son. the new devildriver vid is artistic, just Dez and Jeff look really stupid.
I agree. Yeah, I those are my favorite songs from that album. They played Devil's Son in an episode of Scrubs once. They called it speed metal though. Hmm, maybe I should watch it then when I get home.
There's also a lot of fucked up colour effects in it. if it was just Mike Spreitzer, Jon M and John B, it'd be a great vid.
I like Goatwhore and Boris. Anyone who hasn't listened to Suspended Animation by Fantomas end-to-end should because it's amazing.
What would be a good album to start with for someone who has never heard Fantomas before? I've been getting into some more avant-garde music and hearing about them has piqued my interest.
To begin with I'd suggest The Director's Cut, which is more structured than anything else they've done but it should still give you the gist of what they're about. As a follow-up I'd say their self-titled or Suspended Animation, depending on whether you prefer the idea of a comic book-influenced album (the former), or a cartoon music-influenced one (the latter). Also, if you like them, try Disco Volante by Mr Bungle if you haven't already.
so, I've seen Goatwhore once and they're coming here again twice in the next 6 months. I'm feeling good about myself.
Even The Gods Must Die is probably the best new song I've heard this year that wasn't recorded by QOTSA.
...you mean they weren't before? I think the newest Ministry album was finely executed...that's how ALL bands should go out.
I haven't heard "The Last Sucker" yet, but I have a question. Looking at the tracklisting there's a song called "Roadhouse Blues." Is it a cover of the Doors song? If it is, is it any good? I would hate to have Al destroy one of my favorite classic rock songs. If he did, I may never forgive him!
Well, before I only had a song or two on my computer and never really sat down and listened to them. But then I bought "Legacy of the Catacombs" and was pretty impressed.
yes, it is THE Roadhouse Blues...and I've never listened to the Doors so I dunno how good it is to the original.
I just listened to the whole Follow the Reaper album by Children of Bodom... They really are so damn good, bizzarely catchy, but as heavy as fuck at the same time. Taste of My Scythe = Amazing
Even if Alexi's lyrics are possibly some of the worst ever written... I mean "I don't give a flying fuck motherfucker?" Come on...
