brilliant! Sway is my favourite rapper closely followed but Lupe - so this is like gold for me! can't believe I've missed this until now! I love the fact that Sway is going to be on LASERS, really cant wait to hear that shit.
He's kind of annoyed me a couple of times recently but at least his musical output at the moment is good.
I think I like All Black Everything. I haven't paid that attention to the lyrics yet though. Edit: Lyrics! [Hook] You would never know If you could ever be If you never try You would never see Stayed in Africa We ain’t never leave So there were no slaves in our history Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything [Lupe Fiasco - Verse 1] Uh, and we ain’t get exploited White man ain’t feared so he did not destroy it We ain’t work for free, see they had to employ it Built it up together so we equally appointed First 400 years, see we actually enjoyed it Constitution written by the W.E.B. Du Bois Were no reconstructions, Civil War got avoided Little black Sambo grows up to be a lawyer Extra extra on the news stands Black woman voted head of Ku Klux Klan Malcolm Little dies as a old man Martin Luther King read the eulogy for him Followed by Bill O’Reilly who read from the Quran President Bush sends condolences from Iran Where FOX News reports live That Ahmadinejad wins Mandela peace prize [Hook] You would never know If you could ever be If you never try You would never see Stayed in Africa We ain’t never leave So there were no slaves in our history Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything [Lupe Fiasco - Verse 2] Uh, and it ain’t no projects Keepin it real is not an understood concept Yea, complexion’s not a contest Cause racism has no context Hip hop ain’t got a section called conscious Everybody rappin’ like crack never happened Crips never occurred no Bloods to attack them Matter of fact no hood to attack in Somalia is a great place to relax in Fred Astaire was the first to do a backspin The Rat Pack was cool group of black men That inspired five white guys called The Jacksons Eminem fitted in but then again he inspired a black rapper tryin to mimic him And that’s what really rose up out of Michigan, the sign of white rapper by the name of 50 Cent, ha! [Hook] You would never know If you could ever be If you never try You would never see Stayed in Africa We ain’t never leave So there were no slaves in our history Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything [Lupe Fiasco - Verse 3] Uh, and I know it’s just a fantasy I cordially invite you to ask why can’t it be? Now we can do nothing bout the past But we can do something about the future that we have We can make fast or we can make it last Every woman Queenin’ and every man a Kingin’ When those color lines come we can’t see between We just close our eyes ’til it’s all black every-THING! [Hook] You would never know If you could ever be If you never try You would never see Stayed in Africa We ain’t never leave So there were no slaves in our history Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything
Okay, why are people posting all black everything and the lyrics? I just posted the same exact things on the last page. Doesn't make any sense.
It's unfortunate the label did this... http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/singles/id.14008/title.lupe-fiasco-f-mdma-i-dont-wanna-care-right-now
http://www.complex.com/music/2011/02/interview-lupe-fiasco-hates-lasers?page=1 It's pretty obvious that Lupe's original vision for Lasers didn't end up being on the actual album (thanks to Atlantic). So I'll just listen to this record with an open mind and enjoy it for what it is. Comparing it with F&L and The Cool would be stupid.
Yeah. I rather he had just outed his record label and gave them tons of bad press rather than receive an insincere record. 2 people changed for the betterment of their career. (Lupe [semi~ unwillingly] and Holly) such a shame. Still, I'll check it out.
Well......damn At least I like The Show Goes On, etc. I guess this means I just can't give him the credit for it haha. Did they even provide all of the rap lyrics for him or just the hooks?
No, I don't think they provided the lyrics. He says they offered him things to rap about but I don't think he took that advice.
Eh, it actually sounds like he did unless if I misread something. I think the problem was that he was rushed because of his tour so he didn't necessarily have time to make a pure album.
He said his lyrical content hadn't changed but only the music. He talks about how on F&L he had American Terrorist and how he still raps about the same themes but only the music is different. Just curious, did you even read the interview? It's two pages.
I'm probably taking it worse than I should. I hope it's good anyway. Based on the songs he's released so far I like the idea of it being poppier, honestly.
