    Yah, this, but physically released.

Must be that they're going to release 2014 footage too.

Yeah, they seem to be encompassing the entire 2013-2014 Hesitation Marks touring cycle in the release now, instead of just Tension 2013.

    I have something to admit.
I've only ever listened to PHM all the way through, and a few of the singles from some of the other albums. Oh, also, like, the first half of Hesitation Marks.

    .-. where do I start

"With Teeth" is what I always recommend. As far as I'm concerned, it's by far the most accessible of Nine Inch Nails' studio albums to date. After that, just check out anything and everything, I guess :)

I actually agree. Since most people find it the worst NIN album, there shouldn't be any disappointment with the other albums, but it's still a very solid record and a decent representation of NIN.

Agreed. Though, I'd say Hesitation Marks is also pretty accessible.

The Slip isn't really a good representation of Nine Inch Nails, in my opinion. It's much rawer and shorter than any other of the studio albums.

And that's what makes it so damn good.

On the other hand, I would describe it as a grab-bag of various sonic directions that NIN had taken up until that point. As such, it could a good place to start ... but I think that it's best heard later rather than sooner if you're just getting into the discography.

EDIT: alternatively, if you can already handle "Pretty Hate Machine", just listen to "Broken" and, then, "The Downward Spiral" :p

Anyway, I don't really think it matters which one you listen to next. They're all equally great. IMO PHM, which you've heard is the worst by far. But I agree with Tony that you could start with With Teeth. The Slip, a bit later.

Whelp, I'm off to listen to With Teeth...
Pretty Hate Machine generally always appealed to me due to it's remarkable style similarity to Frank Klepacki's earlier work on the Command & Conquer games, a very nostalgic series for me. I don't listen to it often, but I always enjoy it a good bit, it's extremely dated sound always made me smile xD

    Thanks for the help, guys~ Imma spend some time with this stuff and get back to you all in a bit ^.^;

Yeah, WT is a perfect NIN album for those who are new and want to get into Trent's main music project and it worked for me.

I recently went back and really gave The Downward Spiral a proper listen for the first time in a while. That album is fucking bizarre. I think at the time I first heard it, my musical taste was expanding in all sorts of directions so I couldn't really appreciate how unique the album is. The weird drum beats, strange loops and samples, all while sounding more organic than most music I've heard. It's an album that sounds forward-thinking, even in 2014. It holds up really well.

I've always felt that listening to some of the songs from the Downward Spiral like The Becoming is a great way to get ready for Halloween. That album had some horror influences here and there lyrically. Such a dark and great record.

Speaking of The Becoming, the live version from Still is amazing:

Edit: Anybody else notice how the drumbeat in Everything is pretty close to The Becoming? Especially that 4x dun-dun-dun-dun at the end of each line during the verses.

I don't know whether I roll my eyes more at the fact you think TDS is the worst NIN album or the fact you enjoy Harry Potter.
