For those of you who have been on LPA for over a year or so, you may be familiar with the one night I brought it upon myself to listen to Starship's "We Built This City" non-stop, on repeat to try and do the impossible: Listening to the same exact song for more than two hours straight. As many of you may remember, I failed and eventually lost my insanity at about the 1 Hour 23 Minutes mark. Well, alas...I have not given up my quest. I have been challenged by fellow LPA elite "Nkramar" to take on Aha's "Take On Me", and officially beat my personal record of 11 times with We Built This City, possibly going for 20 or even 30 times with the aforementioned new song. Beginning at 8PM EST, I will load this track up into my Winamp and select repeat, the status of which you can track through my last.fm page which can be found here: http://www.last.fm/user/zshadowofadoubt/ Time stamps will be posted, along with periodic thoughts on the situation or comments on how much this affects me over time. You guys wanted random threads? This is about as random as it gets. Cheer me on folks. I'm going for a record!
You're a sick, sick man. The fact that you had a choice and picked this track says that you're slightly unhinged. Nevermind the fact that I suggested it in the first place. **EDIT** To successfully reach the 2 hour mark, you'll have to listen to the track 33 times. I'm calling it now, no way you make it.
Cheers Derek! How hard can it be? I've listened to a single by ajikan almost for 2 hours once but maybe it depends on if you like the song or not.
You're on. You are so buying me a round of drinks and coming up to Reading to buy those drinks if I make it.
This currently appears on A-Ha's wikipedia entry under trivia: In 1991, a-ha set a Guinness World Record by playing for the largest paying audience in the world: 198,000 people. Didn't know that. I'll be adding this one: In April 2008, a Linkin Park fansite owner was challenged and lost same challenge in an attempt to listen to 'Take On Me' for 2 hours straight. He was last seen twitching in his chair in a video blog.
You know, I was going to try this once, only film it, but I realized: I didn't have a camera, and if I did, I'd have to set up two cameras, so that one could start right when the other one went off.
Hahahhaha, Derek, you're insane. I remember when you did that last year...it was pretty funny. Your posts steadily got stupider and stupider. (Yes, stupider.) It doesn't sound that hard though...but you've got my support, hun.
1 more minute. Feel free to join in folks, and try to achieve your own personal records! *EDIT* It's 8PM. Starting now!
It depends on how long the song is. I'm going to listen to TLTGYA for 3 hours someday just to see if I tired of it.
Repeat wasn't on, so I will have to listen to it for 2 hours and 4 mins to make up for lost time. Basically 34 times. On the second time now.
Oh...dear god. I'm not familiar with the song so I youtube'd it, and I can barely get through playing it once. This is absolutley terrible. *shudders*
