My last 2 albums have both been Brand New albums. Daisy and Science Fiction I have this forum to thank for introducing me to them. A few weeks ago I was looking for something new and I'd gone a long time with nothing really hitting the right spot for me. Scanned the 'What are you listening to right now' topic and BN were coming up a lot. Started with Deja Entendu, but it, like a lot of stuff, wasn't getting me. Decided to give Science Fiction a go and thought it was bloody fantastic all the way through. It was exactly what I was looking for without knowing it. Listened to it loads of times already and still enjoy it. It rolled straight in to Daisy on Spotify and they worked perfectly together, I thought. Daisy showing their louder side. So had to get them physically.
Some Brand New albums are on my list as well. Not Daisy, but all others are. I personally think Daisy is their worst album to date with Science Siction being the best by far. Nothing by them comes close to that album neither lyrically, sonically nor vocally.
Lyrically and sonically I'd say Science Fiction is their best album. Overall for me it sits as #3. I don't like Daisy and think it's their worst album by far. Brand New is one of my favorite bands of all time and their first 3 albums plus Science Fiction are all some of the best albums ever made in my opinion.
It's interesting to hear groups of people, (here and elsewhere), who have been fans of theirs for a long time say that Daisy is their worst. But I join the party way late having never heard of them before with no bias of the general opinion and quite liked it. Interesting. I've listened to 'The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me' now and that was brilliant as well, and probably does nudge Daisy down a bit. I feel I've spoilt myself by hearing Science Fiction so early. It is incredible.
