CHOO-CHOO. Nice news, my fav album its definitely ATS and I really enjoy the second half of LT, Im really hyped for Mark the Graves and A Line in the sand. Dereck, may you tell us more about the ''link'' between the songs?
Even Final Masquerade reminds me of an Artist In The Ambulance-era track with 80's influences for some reason. No idea why .
Just got back from hearing the album. This review represents the album pretty well. I gotta agree on the 8/10 as well. There are a couple small things that kept this album from being a full 10/10 for me but overall it's a really great record.
I say 8.5/10...only because I have really really been waiting for a record from LP to go in this direction and I am so glad they want all in with it. This will be getting a lot of playtime for me I can tell you that.
Maybe when I hear it again I'll agree. Those speakers they played it loudly on combined with me sitting right in front made it harder for me lol
I am a Huge Thrice fan, so I'd love to understand what kinda style you mean here no joke one of my favorite bands. The fact they are being tossed around in the same sentence not only makes me giddy with excitement, but incredibly nervous
Nice review, Derek! Your thoughts, along with all the other posted reviews, caused my excitement and interest for THP to skyrocket into the cosmos and beyond! These next few weeks will be difficult, as I have adamantly refused to listen to any more songs officially released, leaked, or otherwise.
Honestly if what I heard is correct, and Final Masquerade is the last song to be released before the album drops, I would recommend you listen haha. Honestly it blew me away.
I would rather wait to listen to it when I receive my copy of THP. One of my favorite moments in music is when I listen to a new LP album all the way through for the first time. It truly is a one-of-a-kind experience. Also, I've already heard GATS, UIG, and Wastelands, so that's already 1/4 of the album! By the way, did UIG fit nicely into the context of the album despite it being much mellower compared to the other songs? I'm also curious if the infamous baby at the end of the track made sense going into Rebellion or just seemed completely random.
Honestly the baby still makes no sense at all. As Derek said in his review there are interludes that are muse-esque (AFN), some that are comical (KTTK) as well as the ones that make no sense (KTTK, TS, UIG). But I actually liked how UIG fit into the album overall.
