I don't hate it at all. I think it's a fun song to listen to once in while. Mike's rap verses are pretty good in my opinion and the chorus is kinda catchy. It surely has nothing special about it and if we compare it to Mark the Graves, A Line in the Sand, Final Masquerade and Keys to the Kingdom it's a weak song. But I don't really see anything wrong in it.
I think the song is catchy and alright. Don't have any problems with it. I actually like Chester's portions in this song. It's such a different vibe from the band. Don't see what all the hate is about. Technically, I didn't even know people hated it so much until I saw this thread
Except Gibs provided absolutely no constructive criticism - or any criticism at all - with his rating. While I think every song is worth a sentence, whether one found it good, bad or ugly, most would disagree. But you left nothing. RTSA isn't just for rating songs h̶i̶g̶h̶l̶y̶.
So I read through this thread. And everyone complained about Chester saying "You say" over and over. Did everyone forget he also ends the chorus or is the general opinion that that part sucks as well? As for me, I don't see how having Page Hamilton on that track served any purpose at all, but I still enjoy it. Anything is better than the atrocity known as War, even The Summoning.
I actually enjoy the song, the only thing I have to say is : why don't extend the bridge ? I really like it but is very short.
It's funny because when I was listening to the 6 track press sampler back in April, I actually thought fans would love this song. Crazy how wrong and off base I was .
You also said something along the lines of people will either really love war or absolutely hate war. You made it seem so dramatic but when the album came out, no one really reacted that extremely Although, a lot of people were calling MTG a boring song I'm happy we're past that stage now.
No we're not I actually like the song now. The guitar parts just seem a bit repetitive, but in the end I enjoy the song.
I still find MTG the most boring song on THP. The long-ass intro is just boring. It has no real buildup like the ALITS intro.
Actually throw me in with the MTG detractors; alright song but I've never gotten the urge to listen to it own it's own like with All for Nothing of Final Masquerade and as far as LP "epics" go it's destroyed by Line in the Sand. Every time.
I've listened to the song even more and I like it even less. But on the other hand, the more I listen to All for Nothing, the more I like it. I really like the guitar layering, which apparently is supplied by Brad, Mike, and Page. Though I'm not quite sure why people are complaining about the rap lyrics. You don't even have to take it in the context of record companies or anything like that. You can interpret this song as having a controlling theme in general. The only song where I don't like Mike's lyrics is Wastelands.
I actually remember differently. Quite a few people thought War was terrible when the album came out .
