Okay, first of all, for Christianity to be a dictatorship, it would have to be a country, but mind you, that's only one variation of the definition. Secondly, Christianity is not an absolute or despotic control of power. You can still make choices.

Congratulations, earache my eye, you just got owned by dictionary.com

You mean to tell me you looked up dictatorship at dictionary.com for the sake of argument? As far as I (and my Collins dictionary) are concerned, as long as church officials and "God" himself continue to run Christianity like dictatorship (This goth stuff, the homosexual stuff, the flood and lots more), Christianity is a dictatorship. Ever heard the phrase "God-fearing"? I'd be very surprised if it wasn't derived from that.

Okay, I had this awesome post ready to be posted, but then the forums went down, so here goes.

Okay, let's talk about this whole dictatorship thing, first. God does not control the church or people with the snap of his fingers, because we have this little thing called free will. We can do what God asks us to willingly, or just not do it at all. It's a part of being human, which goes into my next point. Let's look at homosexuality, first.

Now, if my guess is correct, you haven't picked up a Bible at all. Now, in the Bible, there are several verses that refer to this subject, and they do not condemn homosexuals in general, but it does condemn homosexual actions.

Now, the goth issue. I don't mean to point any fingers, but I find that the 'goth = satan worshippers' theory to be more common among churches like St. Mary's. Or just misunderstood little twerps that are looking for a scapegoat. Also, the Bible says nothing against being gothic, so that arguement just went out the window.

There's a link somewhere on the boards that describes what a goth is, but I forgot where I saw it. Go use the search button.

And, the flood. That happened because the people didn't listen to God. He purged the world, save two of each animal, Noah, as well as his family. That was the first and last time God did something to that magnitude, besides creating the universe. Yes, God did nearly wipe out the entire human race, but he was gracious enough to give us a second chance.

Finally, I have heard of the term, 'God-fearing', and no, it was derived from dictatorship. To be 'God-fearing' is to let Him be a dominant influence in your life.

Who's we? You act like every single one of us is on this bandwagon known as religion, well I as well as many others are proud to be off that bandwagon.

So....it's OK to be gay, they just can't do anything that gay people normally do? Um, yeah, thats like the cops telling someone that it's OK to be a murderer and a rapist, you just cant murder or rape anyone.

I've found that almost any bible thumper, regardless of what church they're from, associates gothic to satan. Granted, not all religious Christains make that connection, but most do and I'm sure they dont all belong to St. Marys

So....if this flood did happen (which i dont believe it did) and only Noah, his family and 2 of each animal were saved, in order for the human race to continue, Noah would have either had to have fucked an animal to create another human, eh, not going to happen, or fuck a family member Alabama-incest style (sorry to any Alabamians, but you and the West Virginians are a good target for incest jokes ) and I don't think anyone, especially religious Christains want to believe they're the product of inter-family sexual relations.

I think it's safe to say that Saddam Hussein and Fidel Castro are dominant influences on the lives of the people in their country. After all, they have to do what they say or they're screwed. So....Saddam=dictator. Fidel=dictator. If god is also a dominant influence, wouldn't god=dictator? Yep.

Cameron mate, I've been attending catholic schools since I was four and church from then until I was nine. So, if anything, I've probably had more exposure to the churches and god's method of teaching than most people. Good thing you put it was a guess, otherwise I would have seriously flamed you by now.

I agree with Todd on this one. "Homosexual actions" could be something like being turned on by someone of the same gender, and I don't think you would be able to stop that from happening

Aha! Not many people listen to god these days, whether they have reasons or they simply can't be arsed. So I'd say we've used our second chance. If I was you I'd stick my bible up my arse and sod off to the nearest church to pray that there isn't another flood :).
