To me it just seemed belittling that all i said was that it was almost on the same bar as pure opinion, and then i get a reply that seemed like it was trying to prove me wrong. Im sure you meant no harm, but it would be nice to let some opinions just be opinions, and not try to disprove them with technicalities

Hmm. tbh the lyrics and the first half of the song were more than a little repetitive to me. That said, my favourite bit would probably be at 3:23 when the piano comes in with that great synth riff. It's quite epic. :)

Wow. This is one of my favorite linkin park song. They have always done huge cathartic songs and this one feels like a riot chant. Great stuff. I like the kind of "push and pull" dynamic... like uptempo - break -uptempo - break - slow huge chorus - with nice buildups added.

I know I'm looking too far into this but the image I get from the song is a celebration (driving uptempo beat) with lyrics about desperate and fearful people. Kind of a manifestation.

Drums are awesome, the sound of the synth in the solo is tasty, the vocal tag-team is clear at the start but blurry at the end which is surprisingly awesome, very strong vocals...

That electronic drum n bass part doesn't sound too right though. It's grade school electro. It sounds weak. It does, however, give them that aggressive tempo they were searching for so it works, I guess.

All in all, it sounds like a riot! lol

I don't think this is a matter of opinion is all.

It would be like if I said helium was the first element of the period table, someone replied saying they took chemistry and it was actually hydrogen and any chemist would say that, and I said I just meant it as pure opinion.

But no need to get in an argument over it if you don't wish to- we both know where each other stand.

I've tried all day for this to grow on me, whilst is has been doing so so far, i can't exactly warm to this song as quickly as i hoped i would.

The drums are awesome, both Mike and Chester's vocals are damn good, the piano is sick. But I'm not digging the whole electronic part of the song

I really dont understand where you are going with this, all i said was that i liked them both almost equally. It was nothing more than that. Please don't tell me that my opinion wasnt really an opinion when i know that it was. it had nothing to do with me saying which was more complicated than the other, sheesh.

Okay, I misunderstood, sorry. I was under the impression you were claiming it to be as technically talented than the other. My mistake: sorry.

I just love the fact there's so much more going on in one song than there is on the whole of M2M. I hope the other songs on ATS are just as energetic.

Yeah man, you're definitely right. I love how the song builds from one part to the next part. The anticipation of the entire song is epic. Even though some instruments put in the song sound simple(guitar, bass, drums) there's other intense sounds like the techno and electric beats going through out the song. I'm pretty sure this song was meant to be more....OVERALL band member song for LP. Every member has a huge part in the song. I'm sure Joe is going to be doing more physical sounds during the song while playing live.

It was funny because earlier my friend was telling me about these headphones he bought and asked me to test them out and I played "The Catalyst" on them and he was like, "How's the bass? Good or no?" and I was thinking just in the beginning of the song i was like there's no bass right now so i can't tell and then all of a sudden the bass guitar started chiming in and i was like, "YEA, THE BASS IS GOOD" the sounds in this song are EPIC

47 Listens for the day (probably about 20 actually) been to work, had time to think.
I dig the song - it has some really amazing parts. I dont think its the greatest song there've done but its still an awesome song. It does however make me super excited for the new album!
I think the album is going to be epic and I don't mean that in the way like "oh dude thats epic" I mean it in a scale of size and feel and depth. Its going to be like a symphony of greatness!

Yes we can. VERY much so.

Love the fact that we can hear Phoenix also.

    No. TLTGYA was more complex.

I Love the song! It's different for sure and semms to be very polarizing. Some love it, some hate it. Finally we got Joe's scratching back and the energy that Ht and Meteora had. LP is back! I'm sure there will be guitar driven songs on the record and as Mike sad some very dope rap verses.
Btw: I'm new. So hi to everyone! Keep up the awesome work you do here. It's for sure the greatest LP related fansite existing.

Linkin Park is forever...they will never die. I swear, they are gonna be like KISS or the Rolling Stones and make music/tour in their 60s lol These guys are full of talent and "The Catalyst", although its repetitive sounds fuckin amazing and im NEVER changing my mind on that....A Thousand Suns will be just as epic as The Catalyst is, if not, more...all the haters and trolls can go away.
