The member that i want to see more of his potential is no other than Joseph Hahn ( aka Mr. Hahn in Hybrid Theory & Meteora days). I know Joe Hahn did most of the music videos of the band, contributed mostly on programming on MTM & the creative director on ATS but i missed his patchworks during HT & Meteora days.. those kind of sounds that truly blends the dynamic & depth of the sound because of that element.. Yes the band were exhausted to those kind of sounds but that is the only element from Joe resembles the signature sound of the band.. If experimentation is being mentioned, they can experiment the 6th element/sound that needs to be retained then that is Joe... Mr. Hahn has the skills in sampling and scratching, no doubt on that. it feels like the other band members are restrained in maximizing their ability in every album. (In live setting, it seems like Joe is bored in his gear like sampling & scratching behind his turntable.. its been 14+ years they're touring and Joe needs to step up his game in the LIVE Setting, maybe doing weird synthesizers or playing the gong drum (as seen in ethan mates instagram photos) or extending his gear set-up but who knows.
Yeah, I have to say I do miss Joe's scratching and stuff, I think that, considering how much electronics are part of the Linkin Park identity, he should have a significant part to play and instead, it seems it's gone otherwise. Hope we can see (and hear) more of him on this album.
I wouldn't try to guess how much Joe Hahn contributes in a studio setting. I agree that he should do more live. I believe that a lot of the electronic samples in the songs are triggered off-stage or are just in playback and, if Joe were to trigger and manipulate those sounds live, it would add an interesting dimension to the band's performances.
I kinda want to see more Joe Hahn action live as well, but honestly, the things he does... he often has the worst timing haha. I'd only be okay with more live stuff if he worked on that But in all honesty, I think the live performances in general could use a bit more work to make things fresh again.
That's actually a phone that they use for talkback between the control room and the live room/vocal booth.
Thats intense. I'd like an album intro with something like that. Would be awesome. Joe's stuff is in the mix really high, the violin stabs he's playing at the end sound pretty cool in there. Didn't even know that was in the song. Anywho...the album hype draws near!
Attention: discussion about Shinoda's Pigeons editorial goes here. General Coldplay love/hate should be directed here.
His stuff was definitely a lot tighter back in the day. I honestly think he lacks the interest to resurface his turntable techniques; press some buttons, scratch when 'With You' comes on, go back online to hit up some social media, get paid.
Joe Hahn will personally attack your CD with blades at a meet & greet. New Linkin Park music will subsequently be bold and innovative, albeit abrasive and not listenable, putting the band at the forefront of a new era of "authentic glitch music".
I use a CD player still! When I ride the bus with it I get more weird looks then the one legged hobo man yelling religious nonsense in the back corner.
