Okay, I guess I misunderstood what some people meant in their criticisms of his abilities. I agree, he is good at what he does, as he helps Rob and Phoenix establish that crucial foundation for nearly all of LP's songs. He has also demonstrated that he has such an angelic voice
Mike just posted this on Instagram with the caption "Legend in action." Is this mixing/mastering being done?
That's Andy Wallace I believe. Has to be noted that he mixed Hybrid Theory and Meteora, a good sign. As much as I like Manny, I think bringing Andy back as the mixer is the best thing possible for this album.
It appears that they're testing out different mixing engineers. This is so exciting. It's on the verge of being done! AHHHHHH
I guess that, at worst, they could simply be mixing the lead single and prepping that for release while the rest of the songs are being finished. Probably a good sign
I reckon they've already mixed the lead single/s, could just be rest the of the album they're polishing off.. My guess is the album's about 70% percent complete at least. Which is major in LP terms, they were still deciding the tracklist of ATS 2-3 months before release..
Is that Eastwest Studios in Los Angeles? Looks like Linkin Park have officially stepped up their game!
They couldn't be in the midst of mixing the album if tracking is only 70% done, though. I know that they say they could still be writing and tracking while mixing but that would be because they suddenly feel that something isn't finished; they wouldn't go in with absolute knowledge that additional tracking is still needed So, it's either the lead single(s) being mixed, in which case the band are still finishing off the other songs ... or, sudden last-minute changes aside, they've finished tracking everything and the album is in mixing stage. Again, I think that the first is more realistic.
I'm listening to this The Dandy Warhols song and Will's dance fits right with the rhythm ~ Exciting news! An April release date for the single seems plausible, doesn't it?
Yep! I looked it up and they appear to be using Studio Two at Eastwest . This combined with the fact they appear to be considering using Andy Wallace again has me very excited. Yeah Andy may have been with them during their nu-metal days but he also was the only engineer IMO who truly understood the little nuances in Linkin Park's sound and let each sound breathe. He also has engineered some truly brilliant and legendary albums. Legendary studio with a legendary mixing engineer? Yes please.
Damn right. Aside from HT/Meteora, I didn't really know whose records that guy had mixed so I just looked up to it, and it's indeed impressive. Pretty cool to see they're considering him again!
