I was thinking a chord, it just seemed odd because his fingers are all over the neck. Plus Brad would probably be broken out in hives if that were a solo he was playing
This excites me a lot, they're experimenting with different microphones instead of fixing things later..
How is it odd? He's clearly playing a chord using his index and pinky finger, and I don't think there's another natural way for Brad to put the rest of his fingers.
Oh shit.. That's Manny Marroquin the mix engineer, looks like they've been mixing to as degree for the past 6 months, this is extremely, extremely good news.
Well. Like someone said before it might just be that they mix as they're recording. Otherwise, why was Brad laying guitar just yesterday? We really can't tell how far this process is.
I'm looking forward to the LPTVs of the band in the studio. That's how you know we're getting really close to a release!
Of course, but it's unusually early in the process for LP to get things mixed, and Manny isn't just some guy they can go to whenever they please, he's been known to charge a SHIT TON of money per song (usually between 10,000 or 25,000) and is in constant demand by the biggest names you can imagine.. Eminem, Kanye West.. This guy is God when it comes to engineering.. Pretty insulting that a lot of the guys here mistook him for someone else. Anyway, that's proof of mixing on the lead single/s being wrapped already in my eyes.. LP haven't been this ahead of schedule since Minutes To Midnight.
He is talking about deadlines, not the time between two albums. But, if I remember correctly, I believe that they pushed the album release of MTM couple of times. First they said that it's going to come out in 2006, then beginning of 2007 and finally May 2007.
It's an E powerchord or octave. It's obviously not a solo, but you can't really use this reasoning when talking about Brad. His right-hand technique is wierd/bad, and when he is soloing he does not minimize his movement at all. Take a look at him while playing his solo in the outro of Faint. This is the way most people fret a two-string powerchord or octave. Also the most comfortable and efficient way IMO. When you use the index and pinky, the remaining fingers rest on the other strings to mute the rest of the strings. Nothing odd about it.
While I agree with the single mixing... They are not ahead of schedule. Chester originally said 18 months (not that we should have ever expected that in the first place) and now all tours with STP have been postponed/cancelled because of extending the studio time. I wouldn't say they are necessarily BEHIND schedule, but they have definitely added on to their time in the studio
IMO, it isn't insulting just because some people here don't recognise a mix engineer on sight, no matter how prominent they might be.
Troll. If you're judging his work on Living Things then you're poorly educated, LP fucked up in post-production and interfered with his work by half mixing it before sending it over, they were to blame.
I don't necessarily judge Manny Marroquin for the mixing on "Living Things", but you know this shit how?
Why are people harshly criticizing Brad in this thread? I'm no expert on instrumental prowess or techniques but I always thought, and still think, that Brad is a fine guitarist. I'm mainly speaking about his overall sound on the studio albums, though, as I haven't heard enough of LP's songs live. I own Road to Revolution and I do not remember Brad being as bad as some people are making him out to be in a live setting.
