More information is out. It's apparently gonna be very brutal and violent, M-rated and early screens have a sort of RE feel to them. Fact sheet courtesy of tombraiderforums: And early screens of game (very blurry scan): Oh and here is a HUGE version of the new Lara: http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tomb-raider/renders-01.html
I love that Tomb Raider is turning into an open world RPG and is now Mature rated. I think I just jizzed my pants. Crystal Dynamics, PLEASE DONT EFF THIS UP.
They're really talking it up so far. Hopefully it'll live up to it. The last couple have been pretty decent, but I've always kind of felt that if they were going to carry on making TR they would have to try and really shake the series up again, and pull it off this time.
Well Noah Hughes (director) did work on Medal Of Honor (the first one) which I feel reinvented video games/war games when it came out. He also worked on Thief which was a classic. So lets hope he brings that to Tomb Raider.
Open world RPG or open world with RPG elements? Honestly I don't like that CD is emphasizing so heavily on gore. Tomb Raider doesn't need hyper violence to be good, even in a reboot. I do like that it seems the game's going to have a potential Metroidvania approach, but that probably means it won't exactly be immediately open world but instead segmented, probably more like GTA. I also hope the whole food/water thing isn't too Sims-like, I'd rather not have to stop playing the game every fifteen minutes to refill Lara's H20 meter. It's still too early but there's already a couple things that concern me about this reboot. I'm hoping CD can live up to their promises.
It's gonna be pretty open to start, but certain areas will be inaccessible due to Lara being too weak yet or not having the proper tools. As you get more items and she grows stronger, more of the island will be accessible. And as far as I know, it's not so much gonna be GORE IN YO FACE as it will just be gritty and realistic. Haven't heard much about the water/food system. I have a feeling it might be like MGS3 where you had to occasionally pick plants to eat/grow stronger...and cook animals but didn't have to do it 24/7. *EDIT* Clearer pic of magazine. Still unreadable due to angle though: http://i56.tinypic.com/35lucz4.jpg
Just for the record, since this is the official thread, double posting rule does not apply in here. Post as news becomes available. First ingame screens out: http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/photos/full/204281314.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0ZRYP5X5F6FSMBCCSE82&Expires=1291689158&Signature=Z1XkylQu2TtLWigpwJg2k1roV54%3D http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/pho...689797&Signature=qzalSkcDmuyvFg5AsPsSa89t/5Q= http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/pho...689885&Signature=WKY1P23KZ05Z3nFinVGDAXRDxEY= http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/pho...689944&Signature=DziUHO4rJjTtMCNNjeYZE5pKC4Y= (THIS GAME LOOKS FUCKING AMAZING. UNCHARTERED EAT YOUR HEART OUT.)
Seems pretty interesting. I'll never play it though unless I decided to befriend people who have game systems. hahaha
First, none of those links are working for me. Getting weird XML errors. Might want to check those out. Second, it's Uncharted not Unchartered. If you're going to talk smack at least get the name right. Third... Have you even played the Uncharted series? And I'm just going to say this now, Lara's looking a whole lot like Elena (from Uncharted).
http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=5048893&postcount=88 Here . And whatevs, I like mah Tomb Raider.
Hahaha, Yeah. Uncharted was a great series, it's all well and good talking shit on it and comparing it, but in actual fact, TR should be proud to be half the game that series has put out so far. I know it's easy to make that comparison as they're both visually similar but until I see gameplay footage, or play the game itself, I'll hold off putting this TR game above Uncharted as I thoroughly enjoyed playing those two games. Also, whatever Keaton says in this thread might as well be double posted, as it seems to be spot on with my thoughts.
TR fans naturally despise uncharted because we feel as if it stole TR's thunder in the press, even though when you put the games side by side they're literally nothing alike. UC has literally been pegged by the media as "Lara's biggest competitor" and for long time fans (like myself) who feel like TR gave birth to games like UC, it just pisses us off. I'll play UC and UC2 someday, but right now I'm without a PS3 so it looks like I'll be playing TR first. I will say one thing though: Going the complete opposite direction from UC instead of copying it for this game was a brilliant move. Let's hope the comparisons stop now.
I didn't see the second page of this thread. That was supposed to be in response to what you said to me earlier. Uhhhhh... needs more Legacy of Kain
