Spider-Man deserves no such raping by the Boll. Shame on thee!

The reboot will be directed by the guy who directed (500) Days of Summer.

It's going to be pretty challenging to come up with an opening villain for the new series who has not already been used in Raimi's trilogy. I can only really think of a couple. Maybe Scorpion or the Lizard. Other out there choices would be Mysterio or maybe Hydro Man, but I don't know if they would be better suited for when Spider-Man has gotten used to his powers. Spideys first foe should be someone suited to how skilful he will be, it's not like they can kick it off with Venom, Carnage, Morbius and maybe Vulture as they all have developed stories which would be hard to do whilst showing how spidey gets his powers. Then there's villains who just aren't strong enough to stand alone and be interesting like Kraven, Rhino, Chameleon & Shocker. Plus, using Hobgoblin would be too similar to green goblin. So it should be interesting to see what direction they go.

I was hoping they'd finally bring Lizard out for the fourth film but I guess that's not happening now ...

It's been confirmed that Marc Webb, the director of (500) Days Of Summer, will be directing.

With how things are shaping up to be, it's beginning to appear as though Sony are trying to effectively appeal and aim the reboot towards a younger generation. Hence, the fans of 'The Spectacular Spider-Man'. Just a guess though.
