Smashing Pumpkins is now just Billy

Announced in a press release from Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin has left the Smashing Pumpkins:

So, I guess it's good news that SP are going back to studio soon (and does this mean an album?), but it's not SP without anyone except for Billy. I mean, yeah Billy is the heart of Smashing Pumpkins, and, to be honest, i'm fine with it just being him, but isn't this Zwan/The Future Embrace now? What happened to "I want my band back"? Also, Jimmy's drumming is fantastic, so, even on a technical level SP is losing a good player. I guess we'll have to see what happens but this, combined with the whole testifying for congress/letting Today be used in a Visa commercial (seriously, what the heck, Billy?) thing is making me lose faith in Billy completely.

Smashing Pumpkins should've given up in early two-thousands or late nineties like all other nineties alternative rock bands. They've become a joke.

I'm okay with this. I'm not sure why he didn't just decide that SP was his band, his name when they "broke up."

Why don't they just get Meg White to do their drumming? Hers and Jimmy sound the same pratically.

 

I knew things were going downhill when I heard "Today" being played in a Visa commercial.

 

It's ironic because it's a song about being suicidal.

 

What...? Meg White can't drum for fuck, Jimmy can.

But yeah, they should've stopped a long, long time ago.

And the Meg White comparison is ridiculous. Jimmy is an accomplished jazz drummer, whereas Meg just drunkenly collapses into her kit while the engineer records.

I thought that was sarcasm. I think it'd be pretty obvious to most people that seriously comparing Meg White to Jimmy Chamberlin is technical drumming's equivalent of comparing Stalin to Guru Nanak.

 

Jimmy is an accomplished herion addict than a drummer in my eyes. Meg White is an accomplished wanna-be porn star in my eyes on the other hand.

 

Because heroin addicts = wanna-be porn stars of course.

Anyway...Jimmy got kicked out of the pumpkins in the first place for ODing with their keyboardist, the keyboardist died and the only reason why the smashing pumpkins were back together was because Corgan was sick of being on his own. In fact they weren't really back together, it was just Billy and Jimmy.

 

Does he really have enough ego to hold up a whole band like this?
