That version sounds pretty sweet. :) But it's not terribly different from the cut on the EP

I like the drums and the fact that it doesn't have that synth break that the EP version has.

She reminds me a bit of Dolores O'Riordan with the way her voice is now. That's a very good thing.

Heh. I can't shake the feeling that she's being manufactured now.. Different look, different name.. More success.

    I don't know.

She still writes all of her own music. What's on the outside (name/look) doesn't matter. What matters is that she is finally getting the fame she's always deserved. She's incredible.

Based on that picture and her new pseudonym, she seems kind of Jersey Shore-ish now.

Yes it's good that she's getting recognition but at what cost? If someone will change for fame in one way I'd imagine they would change in others as well. I honestly think it is the music that ultimately matters but to just up and erase the image that you've made for yourself while retaining the same sound just seems like a huge "Fuck You" to her older fans. It's not like she's doing a separate identity thing like Green Day does with Foxboro where their sound changes along with their image, this is changing for the sake of fame and though I still like the music I just feel uneasy about the whole thing.

    Yeah. It's just awkward.

It's about time someone talented feeds off the less intelligent consumers by changing their image to something other than their true self. I've had enough of talentless ass-clowns making millions having other people write their songs, make their instrumentals, and singing averagely.

I'd rather Holly make money from doing that than fucking Lady Gaga, Avril Lavigne, etc. At least she's pretty much a genuine musician. It's just pitiful that you need a certain image to sell music these days. Holly is proving that this very moment.

    Completely agree.

As long as she stays true to her music and keeps putting out good albums, I'm cool.

I don't know why her changing her name is a "fuck you" to fans. What does that have to do with her music? I'm sure Holly just didn't sit down and think, "ya know, fuck Holly Brook fans. I'm changing my name". She did it for herself and her career and look where she's at? How many people can say that their first HUGE performance was at the Grammy's with Eminem? ...And her upcoming album isn't going to be in the same style as Holly Brook. I'm actually pretty sure that Love the Way You Lie was written before the official name change too...so yeaah

Here's the thing, how would you know if she isn't changing her sound, when she hasn't even put out an album with her new identity?

To give you a simple answer: You can't.
The fact that she hasn't even officially put out any music under her current pseudonym doesn't even give any grounds to even assume that she has or hasn't changed her sound.

To be quite clear, I would rather her be Skylar Grey, and get the recognition she deserves that she didn't get with her being Holly Brook.

so, what you're trying to say is, this will be a staple of VH1's music video rotation at 5AM when they play stuff like Adele and Carrie Underwood and shit.

I'm not trying to be rude this time, but I don't understand all the hype. I mean, yeah, she has a nice voice, but I bet there are atleast 50 girls in my state alone that have a nice singing voice. Is it because Linkin Park "discovered" her? Everyone really liked all of the other stuff on Machine Shop, this doesn't seem to be an exception to that case.

I rather listen to Robyn. Not that you can even compare the two. I just like Robyn.

Also, about that whole changing her image and whatnot. It's pretty common. Lady Gaga could get by on her talent alone, but the image makes everyone money. I guess she had troubles in the last few years (like she's the only struggling artist on the block), so good for her finding a way to change just her image, and (I guess?) still have her old sound. Atleast it's just a name and appearance change, guys.

I think she would benefit a lot more if she just wrote songs and sold them, maybe guesting on a few of them. I mean, she's never going to be as big as a Lady Gaga or Beyonce. Just being delusional if you think that.

Where the hell did you get THAT from my post? o_O I never even said that she will be as big as Gaga or Beyonce. But it's still great to she her get back on the map in a much bigger way than before. All we can hope for is that she'll make something out of it.

Also, I don't like her because she was discovered by LP, or the fact that she was under Machine Shop. That is ridiculous. Styles of Beyond were also under the same label, and I can't remember the last time I listened to them. I listen to Skylar (or rather Holly) because her type of music happens to align with my taste. As simple as that.
