Linkin Park had nothing to do with the song "System" at all. Korn's Jonathon Davis and some other dude wrote the entire song, including lyrics. All Chester did was sing.
Its not REALLY how long you do a song...its how well you develop your musical ideas. Especially in Meteora, development was minimal or didn't happen at all. I know of 1:30 songs that had more developments than songs like Don't Stay or 'Hit the Floor'.... They are a rock band, they need to have more than just singing/rapping. Sure, there still should be tons of samples and hip-hop stuff, but what about instrumental parts? I feel LP don't have the songwriting abilities and thats why they aren't delving deeper musically. I don't think Linkin Park could ever pull off a 4-6 minute song without it sounding boring nowadays, because their producers wouldn't let it happen and also they wouldn't be able to develop the song with new sections, solos and stuff. Another thing is, a boring part to someone else can be absolutely exciting to someone else. I don't mind listening to 10 minute instrumentals...but for most people its just a matter of knowing how to listen to those type of songs...I think its easier I guess when you are a musician... But I predict by the way things are going that we'll see Hybrid Theory 3 out by 2005.
i think the next LP Album should be atleast 45minutes, the songs should be 3:30 at the least and 5:00 at the most.
I don't care if they have 2 minute songs, I just wanna have some LONGER songs! Is that too much to ask!!!!!!!
That contradictory statement made no sense to me.
He meant that he doesn't care if they have songs that are only two minutes long, but he does want some songs that are longer than the songs they have now.
He meant that he doesn't care if they have songs that are only two minutes long, but he does want some songs that are longer than the songs they have now.
Ah I see. That's what I thought. They did it on reanimation why not the next CDs? I mean the Crawling remix was long and it was easily (IMO) the best song on the CD. And Mike produced it which shows he's not just hip-hop when he produces stuff.
Fine the way it is. That one Creed x) CD, the one with the dude coming out of the ground... the songs on there are all at least 20 minutes long (slight exaggeration ). That really pissed me off. The songs just went on and ####### on, they just kept repeating the same crap. I hate that. LP, keep up what your doing.
Uh, no. LP do NOT keep doing what you're doing. I mean take the song lengths from Rean' and put them to Meteora and it'd be a better CD. Breaking The Habit as long as Krwlng? That'd be good. LP shouldn't go as long as Metallica but should make longer songs. Great songs (or potentially great songs) shouldn't be stopped by something minor like length. It felt like LP was holding back. Being a little conservative on the second record. Hopefully they go all out on the third....
I think linkin park does great with their less than 3:30 songs on an album. Maybe once in awhile.. add like a 4 min one but LP songs are great fast-ferious and melodic without becoming a monstrous composition
If you ask me haveing like a 6 or 7 minute song is like reading a 1000 page book. Your going to lose interest before you finish. Part of me wants more cool instrumentals like A.06 that would be really good if it was like 2 or 3 minutes long. I also think some more hit the floor type songs would be pretty cool, but other than that ill take anything linkin park throws at me. I like it the way it is but i think it would be pretty cool if it were something like this. 1. 0:20(intro) 2. 3:25 3. 2:55 4. 3:01 5. 3:40(instrumental) 6. 3:10 7. 3:15 8. 3:06 9. 5:00 (farely long emotional song with only chester, like someone mentioned before) 10. 4:00 11. 3:25 12. 4:20(instrumental) 13. 3:30(a somewhat hip hop song with mostly mike, like xero songs) 14. 3:18 15. 0:20(outro)
it would be great if they had longer songs because Meteora felt way to short compared to their other Cd's in my opinion
Long songs aren't always repetitive, if you are a really good songwriter you can pull it off. And I think with some work Linkin Park can!
And One is a great example of how good they can be if they did a longer song. A lot of their future stuff should be like the EP. Every song on it had a great pace and didn't feel short at all (well, besides Technique).
